My first thought was The Righteous Brothers.

Sorry, but that's pretty crazy. Michael Schenker is simply an amazing guitarist. I'm not at all saying the brothers are at the top of the heap but if you had to Google who they are then how can you be so familiar with their work as to shoot them down like that when Nelson is in this thread?

Taking a broad view of rock, which I prefer to do, I would pick Sly, Freddie (and sister Rosie) Stone over all comers.

Narrowing the field to heavy rock, I think the Youngs have it.

HOw about the Appice Brothers? Of course they were never in the same band, and drum offs don't count.

Well in my world rock hardly means the Bee Gees, Cliff Richards and the like of a lot of the stuff mentioned here. Anyway I guess I momentarily forgot that there are a lot of pensioners here who think that stuff is really rockin'

I'm not sure how long flowing hair can be "pretentious" anyway!

    Cute.

Even if one tosses out the "non-rock" acts, there are still plenty of "legit" entries, lots of which sound like better choices to me. Kinks, Van Halen, AC/DC, etc. - all way more qualified for the "title" than the Schenkers.

If you start a thread like this, you need to be prepared for a lot of dissenting opinions...

  12. I think the Fogerty's and Davies' might give them a run for the money.

I wouldn't have much of a problem with that although some would instantly suggest the bore that is the Vaughan brothers.

You're such a genius....who said I didn't think some of the other suggestions were as you like to call them "legit" - if they are better choices well that's down to your opinion (which I know you seem to think is always right)....but to throw in any brothers and call them rock just because they're involved in music is somewhat ludicrous.
