2015 is shaping up to be a busy one for Ian Skelly. Fast on the heels of the Sundowners' debut (which he co-produced with brother James) comes "Lucifer's Dream Box", the first trippy fruits of his collaboration with Paul Molloy from the Zutons.
Sort of a Scouse psych supergroup of sorts, eh?

Oh, it's a winner for sure. It's got that dark psych sound I love so much. And the end bit? Brilliant!

Same reason Nirvana did, I would guess.

Well, that bent my mind pretty good... quite authentic sounding and good. There's now a smell coming out of my laptop like a mix of patchouli and sulfur.

Actually, there were previous bands called the Sundowners (several) AND Serpent Power.

Groovy! This collaboration sounds very promising. Here's a recent live clip from the new band. It's interesting to hear a more full bodied, electrified take on Ian's stuff.

There was a punk band in the 1990s called Mighty Baby who I'd guess got their name from a Chinese kung fu movie of the same period. Not evil theft, just youthful ignorance. There's a story about the 1971 group Mountain Bus that does amount to evil theft and the famous band Mountain doesn't come off looking good. I don't know what to make of Serpent Power since you could assume someone in the group would have googled the name...
And there was nothing in that Youtube clip half as demonic as J P Pickens' banjo solo in "Endless Tunnel" on the original Serpent Power lp.

Right, but there were alphabetized racks in record stores.
Plus, this is over 40 years after the '60s band's release. I really don't think it's that big a deal.

It was. The song has been removed already; was only up for a few minutes. Didn't even have time to hear it myself, I was too busy posting.

So far I'm not impressed with the marketing strategy.
