Well, I wouldn't say that was always the case:

Seriously though, I too will miss Leonard Nimoy, and his passing has definitely given me pause. In memoriam, I watched one of my favorite Star Trek episodes, "Mirror Mirror":

Growing up, I had watched Star Trek fairly regularly, and even attended a convention once, but was too young to have seen the show during its initial run. I think I might actually have first seen Nimoy in non-syndication when he hosted "In Search Of..." and even there, despite the occasional cheesiness of the subject matter, he exuded an authority that made me listen, respect and like him.

I remember more recently taking my old man to the 2009 Star Trek movie for father's day, and there were a lot of other sons doing the same thing with their original "Trekker" dads. When Nimoy made his cameo appearance on screen, the entire theater cheered, and that was a great moment.

I am most grateful for the legacy he has left us, and would echo the sentiment that he touched countless lives, including my own. RIP.

I still feel very sad about this huge loss this morning...

Strange how a character portrayed by an actor can become so real and resonate so much with you that you feel like you have lost a close friend....

    RIP Leonard Nimoy

    RIP Spock

A great actor and a great man. He was a dreamer like the rest of us.

He really made the role of Spock into something amazing.

The last time I was sad about Mr. Spock was when he died in ST3:The Search for Spock. Now, it's a lot sadder. R.I.P.

Very sad to hear this news, but will be happy to continue enjoy the acting of Leonard Nimoy. I also want to learn more about 'the man' behind the iconic characters he played.

    Currently watching Amok Time.
At the start of the episode, I realized that Shatner is the only one from that first scene left.

Watching a 1964 'Man from Uncle' episode right now, The Project Strigas Affair, on MeTV. None other than Mr Spock, Capt. Kirk, and Col. Klink, as guest stars. Love it! It appears that some channels have been very quick to put on Nimoy related showings of normally scheduled tv shows. Caught him on a couple of other shows already today. R.I.P. and LLAP to all.

I have mixed feelings about the latest Star Trek movie, but I loved Nimoy's wry cameo, warning Spock II he should not be altering his destiny about revealing info about Khan, and then saying, "that being said..."

Enjoyed him I everything he did. I don't think anyone has mentioned the 'In Search of ...' series, which I fondly remember.

    RIP.

Sorry, missed those references. I simply can't think of a thing he did that I didn't think he was good in.

He'd be more like Dr. Boyce from the pilot episode.

And how did The Beatles work there way into this thread! Shoo! Shoo!

He did a fine job of explaining just why Widescreen was so important to preserve even on VHS.

  24. Yeah, that episode is in my top 5 favorites. Nimoy played the murderous surgeon with cold precision.

He was indeed someone that always seemed young and would never die. I had forgotten how old he was.
