I bought the pre-release of Aureate Gloom, the new of Montreal album on limited edition gold vinyl. Imagine my shock when I saw these black streaks.

I decided to play it before returning it and you know what? It plays perfectly! It is a quiet flat pressing with no warps on non-fill. I'm keeping it.

I know some of you would have a stroke if you got vinyl that looked like this! :yikes:

I can't see the image you've posted so my stroke is on hold. ;)

I don't know. I didn't see any comments about it on Polyvinyl Records Facebook page.

I think it's rather fitting that an Of Montreal LP is mostly beautiful but slightly odd at the same time.

promo pics are not completely indicative of the final product.....

you need to see pics of other peoples actual vinyl.

Well that's true. I just wanted to show what I saw when I ordered it. Like I said, it sounds great. It would be funny if they were all like that, though.

Not unusual for colored vinyl. I have a few with some "stray" colors on 'em. It doesn't effect the sound, so no worries.

  11. I had the same thing happen with the Cream-Royal Albert Hall boxset. Cream colored vinyl with black streaks running through it. Warner was going to send me a replacement, but I asked them tp open it first and they found the same thing, so I kept mine. It plays perfectly however!

Someone didn't get all of the poop out of the pipes. Just look at it this way, it was probably an early pressing. :)

I used to work in a plastics plant. If you don't totally purge all the pellets of the prior color, that's what happens. It's all still vinyl, so your sound should be ok.

The recent Sleater-Kinney was supposed to be white but came with the same streaks. Discogs listed it as "some with white and black marbling"... :unhunh:

Cassette is the new hipster format. Vinyl is too mainstream.
