The guy was huge for over a decade but I don't think I've seen him in anything for a few years.

In the last two years: Men in Black 3, After Earth, Anchorman 2, A New York Winter's Tale and a handful of movies completed or in production.

I remember After Earth - it was a huge flop.

He's been a bit low on the hits lately.

I don't - I didn't see it because I'd figured as much. Of the movies I listed previously, I only saw Men In Black 3, which I liked very much indeed.

It made nearly twice its budget, so it's not a success, but not a huge flop. All of his other movies in the past decade have been big hits.

I kind of hope he re-unites with DJ Jazzy Jeff and puts out a new album.

Wouldn't hurt. I think his days as a comedy and action star are coming to an end and he does't have the acting chops to do dramatic roles.

After Earth cost $130M and made $247M, so that's still not a break even for the studio. Even former Sony Pictures chief Amy Pascal commented on what a huge disappointment the film had been in the corporate emails that got out late last year. I think they were expecting well over $350M-$400M for a film this size.

In a town where the only bad actor is the one who's unemployed I'd think that Will Smith is doing ok.

Yeah, but there comes a point where you stop getting the big roles because studios don't think your name is going to bring in the money anymore.

I have a nostalgic fondness for his approach to rap. I think his solo albums are really good, not to mention his work with DJ Jazzy Jeff.

If they were expecting that, they probably should not have handed the directorial reins to M. Night Shyamalan.

Hes in some new movie now. And yet again, it looks terrible.
As far as I am concerned, he's never been in a good movie

  17. It was an Improve net on 2 and almost as good as 1. As to After Earth, I caught on cable. It's not very good but not as bad as M. Night Shalaman's previous trio of films.

    Have you seen them all?

I think he's been in several good movies, and done well in both dramatic and comedy roles.

I just think he's picked a lot of really awful scripts lately.

You really shouldn't judge his acting based on the bad movies. Even a good actor can't save a bad script.

EVERY movie I have seen of his was terrible..
    MIB
    I am Legend
    Independence Day
    Enemy of the State
    Hancock
    Bad Boys
    Wild Wild West

  24. Paul MCCartney, The Stones, etc. have all made bad albums that doesn't make them bad artists. I mean if you're going to call him a bad actor, you need to have at least a health sampling of the films he's done to be fair. You may not like his acting style--that's another thing entirely and sme of the movies you've mentioned are just bad movies lain and simple and, in others, he was miscast. Enemy of The State and I Am Legend I personally think he did a fine job in.

I thought he did a fine job in Enemy of the State and I am Legend. He's almost 50 now and I simply can't see him in those lead action roles for much longer. He may have to take a few years off and then come back as the older buddy or teacher of a younger action star.

    It sucks getting old.
