Once Upon A Time Live In South American was recorded during 2 tours in the 1990s
Emerson, Lake & Palmer live recordings from South America are to be released in a four-disc set next month.

The tracks are taken from four concerts in the 1990s – three in April 1993 and one in August 1997.

Label Manticore Records say: “Featuring extended workouts of their best-known tunes, this value-priced collection comes in a wallet pack.

“The specific concerts are Estadio Chile in Santiago, April 1, 1993; Obras Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina on April 5, 1993; and Metropolitan Theater, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 16, 1997.”

Once Upon A Time Live In South America is released on April 6 and it’s available for pre-order now.

Probably an editorial error since the set is four discs comprising three concerts.

Can't get Trilogy together, but they can prick around with this stuff. 90's live shows...what a f'in joke.

ELP is now officially the Home Depot of prog catalogs - oodles of what you already have, even more of what you don't want...all the while not giving a damn about the stuff you do want.

yeah no one looked before they typed that.

at least 4 of these tracks were released on the TIME AND A PLACE boxset. some of the 1997 could have been used on the THEN AND NOW live release

You know, I was going to type something but you got it correctly. I am a huge ELP fan and buy mostly everything they put out. Sorry, it stops here. I already have the DVD Live at Montreaux and Royal Albert Hall from the 90's. This just doesn't get it.

Isn't this being released though by the bands old label that has all the live stuff?

Matthew, how are ya? I don't really know who is releasing it. Again, I think it matters not by what I see of the set lists.

I saw them in Feb '93 at Radio City, and even with Lake's changed voice, they burned for 90-120 minutes that night. A really exceptional
performance vs the 6 shows I saw them months earlier when they initially toured the Black Moon album. Their Sept '97 show at the State
Theater in New Brunswick NJ was another great performance, with the quad sound system that night really sounding great as well. Can't
recall if there was a quad system at the Radio City show, but the sound was pretty good there as well.

And yes, bring on Trilogy and the rest of the classic 1970s catalog...

This has little appeal to me. I'd take another multitrack from the '70s.

Really? I gave up on them after the Tull double bill at the Arts Center (Black Moon Tour?) Maybe it was a bad night, but it was painful to watch Keith. Based on your comments, I imagine you were there too.

I've seen bits of High Voltage, but I'm afraid to take in the whole thing. I enjoy the Royal Albert Hall show, but I can't see these new recordings being better performances than that.

But I'm really curious to hear the South American fans. South Americans are pretty amazing concertgoers and it might be worth it just for that.

Normally, I can't get enough live Emerson, Lake and Palmer, but most everything I have from the '90s (not a lot) really soured me (save for Royal Albert)

But I'm a fan of Love Beach, Emerson, Lake and Powell, and 3 so what do I know?

Cool that they included some material from the Nice and King Crimson, but just doing
"1st Impression - Part 2" of "Karn Evil 9" (the part that was a hit) seems a bit wimpy. The hard core fans at those concerts would surely rather have heard the full epic-length piece.

I've said in the past that I find it a little odd that with BSS being regarded by most as their peak studio album (I said most, I know all don't agree....) that on every tour post-74 they've not done anything from it other than KE9 1st pt 2 and sometimes even that has been just a very short abridged version.

The Obras Stadium may be multi tracks. If not, its one of the best stereo soundboards I've ever heard.
This was previously on boot 'Historical at an Exhibition'. I haven't heard nor have any info on other
    two concerts.

The August 1997 show could also be the Buenos Aires show - that one was filmed/recorded for tv (and fairly widely circulated)

You got that right. And to Ytserush, I enjoy Love Beach too. I put the record in front to block the cover shot though :wtf:
