Here's what Ben Curtis; the guy from those Dell computer ads from the late 90's and early 2000's is up to now (not much):

    http://www.businessinsider.com/dell-dude-ben-curtis-today-2014-10

The idiot was busted for buying pot and Dell immediately fired him.

I thought he was really annoying in those commercials, and he's apparently just as annoying in real life.

We knew somebody that worked for Dell at that time and I got one of those T-shirts- Dude, you're getting a Dell.
I'm not sure the current generation would even get it, since history is what happened 10 minutes ago.

Forgot about him. A blast from the past from those early days of the technological takeover. Contrast him with the hipper Apple Mac dude. I like the Dell Dude better.

You say that like people are supposed to remember a commercial from when they were a kid.

I remember plenty of commercials from when I was a kid- both good and bad. :)

Love how the article states "After the cops busted Curtis for attempting to buy drugs.." without expanding on what would now be legal in several states.

    So what?

It wasn't and still isn't legal in the state he was busted in, which is why he was arrested...

Yeah, I guess I do. And, maybe because I'm older (you are too?), i don't even think of the Dell Dude as that long ago. I was thinking about the Red Rose commercials, the chimp jazz combo thing, that probably wouldn't play well today for obvious reasons- those commercials ran in the 60's and are still stuck in my brain.
Funny how some stuff is indelible. I thought the Dell dude commercials were pretty obnoxious at the time, but they are still in my memory bank.

Kind of interesting how much the public attitude seems to have changed over pot in the last, say, 5 years. I don't want to get political about the issue, but it certainly seems that it is more widely accepted. However, as you and others here probably know, most celebrity/entertainer/endorsement contracts contain "morals clauses' (I used to refer to them as Fatty Arbuckle clauses) which give the corporate sponsor an immediate 'out' if the spokesperson does something that brings them into 'moral disrepute,' including various crimes. I'm not making a moral judgment about pot or this actor, just what I hope is a neutral observation....

He was busted by an undercover cop who was trailing him and the dealer before the transaction could go down.
