Shingetsu. If you thought you had already heard all the best progressive rock epics, think again!

Sadistic Mika Band: this Funkadelic track is so awesome I named my daughter "Mika" after it, now at 11 years old, she has become it as well:

I think J.A. Ceasar is way over-rated, most of his stuff is pastoral, I have three five CD boxes that have some awesome stuff, total Magma influenced,
but you have to wade through the chicks screaming in the plays...cool artwork though!
There's a lot of stuff of his to be found, he has a website where you can buy his stuff and see his upcoming shows (he's the old dude with the white hair): http://www.asian-crack.com/index.html

"Tadaima!" is what you say when you get home ("I'm home!) and the response from the family is "Okairi!" ("Welcome back!").

This one is a nostalgic favorite of mine from my years in Japan; I couldn't find the (uncredited) Jeff Lynne-produced studio version, but this one is pretty good:

Puffy - Asia no Junshin (1996)

This is a great thread, probably the best in awhile even if it's a repeat, has Yoshinori Sunahara been been mentioned?

    great chill out stuff.

I really got into digging for this stuff in the late nineties, stuff like Takako Minekawa, Pizzicato 5, Cornelius and whoever.
I would become familiar with whatever I could from labels like Pussyfoot or Mo Wax, The trend in sound was or seemed to be more about collective uses of technology like how Howie B.'s Pussyfoot label mixed turntablists or knob twirlers with actual musicians, and his work with Skylab. Mo Wax put out some cool stuff by the Major Force people.
I really didn't get very far, although I have heard a good deal of stuff posted, much much more here is stuff I am not familiar with, -great thread!
