I have Frank's subplatter and acrylic platter on my old Planar 2 along with a white belt. Getting ready to upgrade to a R3 so I can transfer all my goodies to the new deck.

Focals up close, nice! Focal does a good job with those cabinets, and the drivers are high quality, as you know. I wanted to get one of the Utopias, but the ones with the big woofers are out of my price range...:D

My father had that tuner... along with a Tandberg deck. I love vintage tuners and have a McIntosh MR71

I would LOVE an MR-71. I was just lamenting about the MR-78 that I got to enjoy for a few weeks, years ago. Looking for Mc tuner to add to my collection someday.

I'm an all McIntosh guy with a couple of notable exceptions. I have a dedicated antenna installed in our attic, which removes the usual reception complaints, and the sound from it is truly stellar.

My antenna. It's not pretty but it works great. Currently connected to the venerable Yamaha T-2.

Great looking room. How do those Magnepans sound?

They are terrific. The 1.7's... amazing speaker for $2,000..... as long as you have a big enough room. Perfect for filling a big space like this. At the same time, the position they are in now, (I move them about often), with their front feet tucked under the rug, they are very intimate with my chair at the other end of the rug. You can see the rest of the room at page 18..?... of this thread.

Please note the white sub in the picture is for the TV/video system on wall to the right. It is NOT wired into my two channel. They are great by themselves. Adding a sub, (or subs), to Maggies is just wrong in my opinion.

I will admit I employ a J&L to supplement the bass on our Olympica IIIs

We should trade speakers. ..............(you can keep the sub).

I've wondered how the magnepans would handle a substantial amount of power like the 1201s can put out.

............watts are like oxygen, they're only important if your not gettin any.......

Wouldn't it be great if the amp Gods of Hi Fi would discover the exact amount of watts that sound best for your system. Like, come up with an equation that apply's to each speaker model.
I heard recently that Nordost, (I think), has figured out that the ideal speaker length is 17', or something like that. Anybody else heard this? If you don't need it all you just coil it up or something. Going against what we been thinking for a long time.

Look at these new Devialet amps from France. 200w per out of a skinny little box you can hang on the wall.
