Tal Bachman opening for Barenaked Ladies at Marine Midland Arena Buffalo, New Year's Eve for 2000. We sat in the Adelphia box, which was too far to throw rotten vegetables at the stage. BNL were a blast though.
There has been plenty What comes to mind is a rap based group that really were awful, I'm not a fan of rap to start with. Another that comes to mind is The Dirty Three that supported The Screaming Trees here in Melbourne years ago, bloody awful electrified violin instrumental music
Last year i had to sit through support and main act, because my girlfriend wanted to see One Republic. Support was a band called Kongos. I don't know, maybe it was the acoustics.
Were you the guy that shimmied out on the field goal net cable? The way I remember it, Thorogood had to play in the rain a bit but still rocked.
Joe Perry Project opening for either the Kinks or ZZ Top (I can't remember). Joe is really not a gifted guitarist and during the gig I was wondering why he left Aerosmith for this.
I saw him open for the Stones, it might have been the Bridges to Babylon tour. He was basically ignored by the crowd. I kind of felt sorry for him.
Was that where she played Van Der Graaf Generator records and did faux-kabuki moves? All us VDGG fans thought it was hilarious, but I give her credit for trying to expose this music she loves to vast crowds who probably hated it.
I also saw KOL a bunch in 2005 - and I thought they were mediocre at best as well. However, I saw them open for Pearl Jam 3 years later and I thought they were MUCH better - they really improved as live performers across that span!
Sonic Youth to get to Neil and Crazy Horse in '91. I just didn't know anything about them at the time, then my disappointment was compounded my Neil playing for about an hour/15min. I'd probably enjoy the Sonic Youth show if I could go back in time.
My uncle did attend one of the infamous gigs. He said everyone was there for the Monkees, so Jimi Hendrix played a sloppy, rather uninspired set, probably influenced by chemicals.
AC/DC opening for lou reed....kidding it was a great show all around.....bon scott! i do remember a few horrible opening acts angel for one but can't remember who they opened for or if in fact they were the headliner and just awful! oh and of course the classic! fumble opening for ziggy stardust!
It was an actual Cirque du Soleil troupe opening the shows on the Driving tour (2002). Not terrible, but just not what I wanted to see (especially @ the cost of those tickets!).
Ha - I didn't actually watch the whole clip. I just posted it as a representation of Starlight's 2010-11 performances!
