    Now that's funny

For me he'll always be Picard (same as Shatner/Kirk) but this could be good

I absolutely love Bored to Death so I'm excited about this new series.

Now I'm divided. I can't stand MacFarlane. I like Ames a lot. Stewart is okay. Hmmm. I may have to try it out. . . but MacFarlane makes me want to stay away. Just not funny imo.

I sympathize with your feelings towards McFarlane. But it all depends on his involvement. He has a reputation for taking all the credit for almost everything on his shows when he has a small army of show-runners, writers and producers of various strips doing the work.

  7. Thought Ted was hilarious. And Ted 2 is coming soon.

I also noticed that Jacki Weaver is a regular cast member, a respected Australian character actress. Incredible cast, indeed.

It's not really a McFarlane show. My old friend Jonathan Ames is the writer. It's his show. McFarlane is co-producing.

That scene at the airport (episode 2) is comedy gold.

Yup, I was going to mention the loo scene too! The other scene that tickled my funnybone was the pool side nude portraiture scene, where a strategically placed wicker basket hides the subject's privates, but next to it, the painting reveals the full package in all its glory! :D

Holy crap! I just noticed, after reviewing ep1 again, than not only is Capt Picard in this, but so too is Data! Brent Spiner was the piano player. Wonder when Geordi is going to turn up or Deanna Troi, speaking in her native Brit accent...

"Data (Brent Spiner) makes a cameo appearance on the show. Did you make that casting call?

Yes, that was my idea. One night early on in this whole thing, I had drinks with Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, and Michael Dorn. And they were all so interesting—I mean, these were four real buddies. I just thought they were all so unique and strange. As soon as I saw Brent Spiner, and I sort of knew of him through some mutual friends and I knew that he was a musician, I kind of immediately had this idea of him as a melancholy piano player."

You sitting with four of the main stars from The Next Generation sounds like something out of a dream—or a set-up for a joke.

Oh, I know. I felt in some ways it was a little bit wasted on me because I wasn’t a total Trekkie mad man. But Seth MacFarlane is a total Trekkie. And we were able to get a hold of him. I texted him, “Get over here! With the crew of the Enterprise!” And he showed up, and I didn’t want to intrude on their night, so I just stayed for drinks and had plans afterward. But Seth stayed and just was in heaven. I kind of wanted to get all of them into the show, but I was only able to get Brent, who was wonderful. I just thought it would be fun for fans of The Next Generation to see these actors in other roles."
