Well if true HD versions are available we need them to get them put on blu ray.

Couldn't find a link for tickets. Anyone?

I realized this during my nightly walk...five hours after making that post! Stating that I'm more than a wee bit rusty in this great area of film comedy is an understatement.
Thanks for the link to Annotated...; I'll be ordering that very soon.

It is bcptheater.org but I think the only way to get tickets yet is to subscribe to their season. Expect some will be made available for individual play at some point.

    Thanks for the info.

I've been a die-hard Marx Brother fan since I was eight years old. My chosen career path is thanks to them.
The idea that there may be some private collectors out there with lost/missing footage that the rest of the world will never see is disheartening.

I want to get some serious opinions on this idea:

How much money would it take to get one of them to break?

My idea is to set up a go-fund-me or Kickstarter with a reward. The money would go to a collector to "lease" the film to a studio to see its release.
If the studio can't spend the money, have the fans kick in.
I've already got two lawyers who have offered to help negotiate terms between the studio & the collector.

    I'm dead serious about this.

    Who's in?

Also a Marx Bros fan since about that age (actually 7, after starting on Chaplin at 6), but don't have enough disposable income for such a venture.

No one is asking for ten grand. I'm thinking the cost of a couple of DVDs.

The idea is to reach out to fans worldwide (not just here on SHTV)

Harpo (Arthur), Gummo (Milton), Chico (Leonard), Groucho (Julius)...no Zeppo though...maybe taking the picture? Who knows.

Yes, I confused Gummo and Zeppo.

    Harpo is the most recognizable.

I'm now into The Annotated Marx Brothers (subtitled A Filmgoer's Guide to In-Jokes, Obscure References and Sly Details) by Matthew Conian and it is an amazingly detailed book.
On page 34 (in the chapter dealing with Animal Crackers),there is a simple statement from the author:
"Oh, to have seen the Marx Brothers on Broadway!"
After I read it, I stopped and gave it some thought.
I came to a simple reality: That must have been a tremendous experience, seeing one of their stage presentations!

"Join TCM hosts Robert Osborne and Ben Mankiewicz, special celebrity guests, noted film historians and thousands of movie fans from around the globe next April 28-May 1 for the ultimate classic film celebration: the 2016 TCM Classic Film Festival!

HORSE FEATHERS (1932) World Premiere Restoration
The Marx Bros. bring their manic and surrealistic style of comedy to college football and academia when College president Groucho enlists Chico and Harpo to help his team beat a rival in one of the funniest football games in movie history, shown in a new restoration presented in collaboration with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment."

There is no way they trumpet it like this unless they've restored at least some of the lost footage (hopefully all). This is HUGE!

I'm thinking it may get a limited release on a big screen near you.
Universal has been doing that with some of their classic monster films lately.

If they don't have at least a limited release I will get tough with them. First I get tough with first guy, then I get tough with the other guy.
