Managed to see him in the flesh, in Fresno during the previous decade. Great player, will be missed.

John Renbourn. One of the best! That classic combo of John Renbourn, Bert Jansch, Jacqui McShee, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox was pronominal in the "Pentangle" group. Their solo albums were excellent as well. I fear that it is getting close to the end of an era.

A very sad day. John Renbourn was one of the greatest ever of the UK folk guitarists. And his work has stood the test of time.

Richard Thompson is pretty much the last of them carrying the torch forward. Fortunately, he seems to be in exceptional health. Still... time waits for nobody...

    Sad news.

I had the chance to see Jansch a few months before he passed, and I didn't...stupidly because I was working third shift and didn't want to disrupt my sleep schedule. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Never got the chance to catch Renbourn, would have loved to.

John Renbourn and Bert Jansch have been reunited.

RIP John. Richard and Martin can continue to carry the flag. Get out there and see them as often as you can.

Who knows where the time goes...

I just heard on another forum. I'm gutted. One of my favourite musicians, and Pentangle one of my favourite bands, always. Oh, death sucks. RIP John, and infinite thanks for saving my life with your music when I was young.

Very sad news. I've been a fan of his since I first heard Pentangle back in 1970. I saw John several times solo and saw most of the Pentangle reunions. Last time I saw him was with Jacqui McShee at a small club in Harvard Square. I took a "Master Class" with him about 10 years ago wherein he recounted the history of British acoustic guitar playing. A great musician, brilliant arranger and all around nice guy. I hope wherever he is now, there's a good supply of liquor!
