I wish there was more info targeting record collectors vs just a story about volume. He has 100,000 records in his personal collection well shelved. I assume he has interests similar to us and some interesting rare but high demand rock records

I would assume he has ways of filtering gems from his store inventory purchases to feed his interest beyond just buying palets for warehouse filling at less than 10 cents an album? Perhaps some small collectible purchases to feed his personal passion?

There would seem to be more to this story

You could not live long enough to actually listen to all those records.

I think I've seen this before on here, but can't find the thread.
Before I opened this thread I said...

I think it's also about the 'having'. And to even just admire the covers as works of art, in some cases.

I don't recognize one album in that photo that I would play. I don't recognize one album that looks even remotely like rock music.

I'm stoked I don't recognize one album in that photo. I like to explore and listen to new music that I've never heard before.

Be careful, I got all kinds of grief in another thread for pointing that out.

Averages out at 60c an album. Seems like a good deal. I wonder was the collection "picked" before going to market.

I'd much rather browse through John Peel's record collection.

The more I look at this photo the more I'm convinced it's a photo opportunity, from the photo it looks
like a warehouse containing other product in cartons with a few junk albums scattered on top of the
cartons which do not contain records.

Are you into current Brazilian folk/pop? I read that was his big collecting motivation initially.

Puffff, bet I have more NM/M- titles than he does!!!:)

    It's not a collection, it's an accumulation.

Interesting and frightening at the same time.

No, I've never heard any of that stuff, except maybe a psych record or two.

    I don't understand

The other forum members got upset because of the name-calling or because you actually pointed it out?

They were arguing with my contention that he looked silly, apparently standing around on a bunch of LP's. Some argued that he's not really standing ON LP's, just standing in the midst of them. Others argued that who am I to criticize this guy when he's doing such great work collecting every LP on the planet. There, like here, I wasn't really looking to hassle the guy, it just seemed like a kinda goofy picture. And I was a bit taken aback at the fierce defense of the guy.

Never mind the ridiculous amount of money spent over time just to buy all those bad records.
Imagine the insane amount of money actually spent to produce all those bad records.

I wonder what his favorite record is?

And how many steps does he use to properly clean a new used vinyl?

Does he put them in protective sleeves?
I'd like to sell him those.
