..what he said. The 80's CD was also true stereo.

...but the BEST sounding MMT (at least the movie songs) is the remixed bluray version.

Would be so great to get all the remixed MMT songs on CD (like the Yellow Submarine Songtrack). I would die for a complete (!!!) true stereo mix of "Walrus"...

I thought the 2009 CD had the true stereo mix of Walrus??

Yes, but only the first half (as usual). Second half is fake stereo...

Walrus is remixed into true stereo throughout on the LOVE album/CD.

IMO, the sound quality on both recent stereo/mono mixes (especially the vinyl) of Magical Mystery is phenomenal!

I despise fake stereo as much as the next guy, but somehow the fake last half of Walrus doesn't offend me. The song is such a mindf**** it just adds to the surreal nature of the music. BTW, all the stuff on "Love" sounds so good it's a blast (albeit not a replacement for the official mixes).

I really enjoy the full stereo mix od walrus on love. I would like to have a version of this mix that has the song in full without the cut ending and blended intro. Unlikely to happen of course.

I'm not talking about the mashups, but the complete songs that are on LOVE such as Walrus, All You Need Is Love, Something and A Day In The Life blow the original mixes away, in my opinion. The original mixes are an important part of history and, for the time they were recorded, are among the best sounding records ever made. But it's time The Beatles catalogue was brought up to speed in terms of overall sound quality. While retaining the integrity of the originals, it would be great if The Beatles' material-especially from Revolver onward-received remixes. What Steven Wilson has done for some of the greatest seventies albums, someone (maybe Giles Martin) should do for The Beatles.

But as you say, these shouldn't serve as replacements to the originals; they should stand alongside them.

MMT was always one of the better sounding albums when the original 80's CD's came out; subsequently, the remasters (they are not new mixes) sound that much better.

I too love that fake stereo second half of IATW. It really evokes a late night feel that i have not heard anywhere else.

I agree, esp. with headphones on , I've always liked the jolt it gives that section. The song wouldn't be the same without it.

There is simply no complete true stereo remix available without a crossfade on the intro or the outro...

I would like to see Rubber Soul remixed to put the lead vocals in the center like they did for several songs on Yellow Submarine Songbook.
The songs Yellow Submarine, Eleanor Rigby, and Sgt Pepper's all were originally mixed with lead vocals hard right, but on the Yellow Submarine Songbook they remixed them to the center. When I'm 64 lead vocal was moved from hard left to center. Why can't they do this will ALL of The Beatles material that does not have the lead vocals centered?

The 1987 remix of Rubber Soul only added reverb to the vocals that pans from hard right to left, it really did not center the vocals properly. If they can do it with Revolver's Eleanor Rigby, then I think they could probably do it to just about any song that would need it.

I would not mind the entire catalog being remixed with the care that was used on Yellow Submarine Songbook. Then we would have both the historically correct stereo mixes and the improved stereo mixes to choose from. (many people would want both, I would).
