UMe prepping Blu-ray Audio titles for Europe (pt3)

I just checked the latest BDA listings at Acoustic Sounds.com and they list Herbie Hancock's Blue Note albums "Empyrian Isles" & "Maiden Voyage" as a 2-for-1 disc and John Coltrane's "Blue Train" as coming May 5th along with the Miles Davis Complete Blue Note release...

 

Thanks! This is good news. I'm in for the Hancock two-fer. Maybe Blue Train, too.

EDIT: The Hancock and Coltrane discs are available for pre-order from amazon.com. I cannot post links now, but they were easy to find in a search.

 

I assume none of these will be in surround, even Skynyrd.

 

They generally have included surround mixes recently, especially if they were already done (TFF, Simple Minds, Beck, Bryan Adams, The Who), so I would expect the surrond mixes to be on here.

The pricing is curious. The Herbie may be cheaper than buying the two downloads. The Coltrane not.

 

Things are improving in HFPA-Land wrt surround... slowly but surely.. in addition to those titles I listed in my little recap (5 of which will have 5.1) there's more great stuff coming.. watch this space!

 

Did PET SOUNDS get cancelled again?

I thought it was due mid-April?

 

I guess the Roxy Music 5.1 mixes made by Steven Wilson will come out in several formats including BD-A as it happened with Tears For Fears and Simple Minds.

 

There is also Disco the collection of the first three albums by Grace Jones, coming out in April, I think.

 

Why do you ask?

 

It dropped off the radar. Even Amazon calls it "unavailable," which usually means dead.

 

My hunch is these would be in DVD-V form, like the Tull stuff, or possibly one configuration could be a standalone BD-A with a separate box set without the new remixes .. I can't see DVD-A being an option but we shall see.. hopefully won't be too long to wait now!

Instant pre-order, love that woman's work. I do wish there were more HFPA's that utilised the disk space even if that can't be filled with lovely surround mixes (was disappointed the Who hits 50 HFPA never happened, that would've been a great addition to the roster imho).

My pre-order from amazon.com has not been cancelled and still states "Arriving Tuesday, Apr 28". Amazon sometimes stops taking pre-orders on items that have not been cancelled. I don't know why, of course, but it could be that the release date has not been confirmed or they have not received confirmation of their allocation on release day.

Has some misguided individual really removed the 5.1 from the allegedly forthcoming Pet Sounds Blu-ray?
