I'm betting we'll never hear about this again.

I'll be first in line for that album. When Prince does a cover, he does it right. Imagine "She Comes in Colors." And reworking the Lee/MacLean songbook would be tremendous, music so ahead of its time. Fish in a barrel for the Purple One.

What covers have you heard Prince do that he has done right? Besides what he does live.
I mean Prince is my favorite artist but I am not a fan of his covers.

I was thinking primarily of "A Case of You" -- he has done so few outside of live. That is one of my favorite songs and he does it beautifully.

I do like his "Bet You By Golly" (but not "La La") -- "Whole Lotta Love" all torn up like that. That astonishing (live) solo on "When My Guitar Gently Weeps" (TV).

You're dubious about him taking on Love (if it happens)?

I would be interested but I have been unimpressed with most of his covers he has done.

If this is real, it would be nice to hear. I remember back around '85 Prince became enamored with LA's Paisley Underground scene -- which was inspired partially by the music of Love (a cover of "No Matter What" was on the second Bomp Battle of the Garages collection). If he actually did cut this and put it out, it would bring things full circle, in a way.

Might be more appropriate if he covered some "Vindicator" songs: "Oh what a dish/She smelled just like a fish".

Sure hope this project doesn't follow the commercial trajectory that "The Black Album" did. I'd really like to hear Prince's take on 'Live And Let Live'...

I personally like his Crimson and Clover.
He did a sensational version of Gnarls Barkley's Crazy live in London in his 21 Nights tour a few years back at the O2.
