Hard to tell from the linked articles if it was unilaterally cancelled by Univision, or Kreutzberger decided it was time to call it quits, or a combination of both of those scenarios.

I can't understand more than a few words of Spanish, but damn it if I didn't watch Sabado Gigante from time to time. Such an unusual beast. A karaoke contest, a game show, a performed melodrama, sexy dance routines, a wacky comedy routine, an interview, live commercials... any and all within its three hours. Surreally fascinating.

Are you serious? My parents used to watch his program on Saturday evening (it was taped for sure as we live in Spain) on Galavisión Europa and I think he was dreadful next to the Spanish conductors. Baaaaad.

Horrible times, that guy controlled all the artists in Mexico, he was the king. Adult people loved that show. Now instead of him we have shows like The Voice. FGS.

That's the feeling I got from him, that being on his program was like an honor. But as big as Mecano were in Mexico (as they were in Spain), artists like them didn't need him.
We have The Voice in Spain too, I guess both networks and programs are becoming exportable franchises.

I remember when Hombres G arrived, the guy had to invite them to his show (he din't want it because of the bad language). Well during the song you could see the word "censored" and the volume muted when they sang sufre maa#$#$#) ha ha.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

I remember kind of watching Sabado Gigante on Univision back in the 80s when bored. Seemed kind of lame. Couldn't understand a word of it.

But, I really remember watching the Iris Chacon TV show. :agree: :agree:
