I believe they were distributed by Atlantic Records under the Cotillion label but the main label was still Brunswick who own the catalog to this day.

Depeche Mode-Love In Itself (single edit)/Fools (Non LP) UK ISSUE
From the title you would gather this was a happy ode to being n love but the lyric actually pinpoints the realization that love in itself cannot make one happy. Good groove although not one of my personal favorites.
"Fools" is an early contribution from Alan Wilder. This track gives great insight into how he would help shape the Depeche Mode sound going forward. A vastly underrated member of the band.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

The Dakar label was distributed by Atlantic in the late 60s and 1970. That's why. After that, he signed with Columbia.

    Depeche Mode-People Are People/In Your Memory (Non-LP)
Not one of my favorite singles of theirs although it did hit #13 in the USA. The lyric seems awfully obvious for a Depeche Mode song....almost like it was written for a project by a high school student. The message is great but the heavy handed lyric just kills it.
"In Your Memory" is an Alan Wilder track. Not a bad track at all....easily could have made the LP.

Depeche Mode-Master & Servant/(Set Me Free) Remotivate Me UK ISSUE
A big hit in the UK, reaching #9. Not surprising that it fared better in the UK considering its somewhat taboo subject S&M influences. A little time machine warp in terms of sound....did Vince Clarke rejoin for a brief minute?? Another big single for the band that I just never got. I remember hearing this and thinking fans of the band must be mad.....much better things were to come both before and after thank goodness!
"(Set Me Free) Remotivate Me" is perfect B-Side fodder for this time period. Ok but nothing special.

Hmm who was holding the envelope he set on fire?? If it was John Denver that's one thing but if it was Charlie Rich how many fingers got burned??

Incredible. I had no idea Domingo did a song with John Denver.

I think Charlie escaped unscathed....except for his reputation! He never sniffed the top ten pop in the USA again!

I could but it would only depress most followers of this thread....part of the mystery is the feeling that "we have to be getting close to the end at some point"!

I assume he was totally plastered; thus the question of how many fingers burned.

According to 45Cat.com even their UK catalog of 45s numbers only 39 7" records, of which 7 or 8 are duplicative. So we would know pretty well.

Amazingly, A-D constitutes about 25% of my collection. We will gain ground fast on the alphabet!

A-D is 36.3% of my (tiny) collection. But admittedly Blondie umm inflates the percentage.

Nothing wrong with that....AC/DC (which I am blasting now and BTW Who Made Who is an awesome single!) and more so in the singles arena, Elvis Costello and The Cult inflate my numbers. Blondie is GREAT...especially where singles are concerned.
