It's so ahead of it's time - 'post-punk' before punk happened! It has the same sort of infectious energy as Blur's "Song 2".

Surprised that not a single forum member has mentioned STATION TO STATION yet!
Especially since we not not long ago had a dedicated thread to the song, we many a member cited it as being among their favourite tracks. Maybe it's because it's not considered a deep cut??? Anyway, the studio version has never made a compilation in any form.

Here is my top 10 (in random order):

    Station To Station
Sweet Thing / Candidate / Sweet Thing (Reprise)
    Slip Away
    Big Brother
    Warsawa
    Sense Of Doubt
    The Secret Life Of Arabia
    African Night Flight
    Move On
    Under The God

I love lying in the bath and singing 'Eight Line Poem'. I can't sing to save my life but with 8LP and an echo-y bathroom, it doesn't seem to matter.

Although, if the house isn't empty when I start it is by the time I finish.

I wouldn't consider it a deep cut. Rather, it's a musically ambitious major statement. The lead off track for an album that shares its title.
I hadn't realized that it's never appeared on a compilation. That a song that awesome could be left off of a 'best of' really speaks to the strength of Bowie's catalog.

Love the lumbering heaviness of "Black Country Rock" and several others on The Man Who Sold The World, that whole album (besides the title track and perhaps "The Supermen" and "Width Of a Circle") is made up of favourite deep cuts.

This is a great pop single for sure! Love it as long as I don't have to see Bowie dancing around to it in those ridiculously too-tight tights he wears in the movie!!

I think WITW was a hit for Bowie too. I think it was released as a single in the UK in the early 80s and made the Top 20.

Strangers When We Meet is my current Bowie fave. It is on the latest Bowie compilation, but it's still relatively obscure for non-Bowie fans.

The Informer, one of The Next Day outtakes, is another excellent track.

I didn't know that. Any idea why so many years after the album's release?

"Low" is my favorite so that's chock full of favorite deep cuts. Off the pop stuff, maybe "Fall Dog Bombs the Moon."

I'd say it was because his contract with RCA was ending and they wanted to release another hit while they had a chance.

Reached #24 in the UK and #16 in Ireland. There was a video too, shot in 1981.

I think the problem with someone like Bowie is that he is such an icon that Deep Cuts becomes an entirely relative concept with his pored over catalog. I think I would nominate Julie but even that is not obscure .
