The name "Grateful Dead" and the skull logo looked scary to me. Until junior high when I actually heard their music, I assumed they were a heavy metal band.

Was also a little scared of "Stairway to Heaven" because around age 8 or 9 there were those rumors that the song had backwards messages from "the devil." So if it came on the radio (which back then was constantly even on top 40 radio) I'd be slightly frightened.

    This.

Never owned it, but I saw it in the record store.
    Absolutely terrified.
    It still bothers me.

You're not alone apparently - the back cover (a much tamer photo) has the artist and title on it as well, in case stores wanted to display that side instead.

What, you don't like Maurice Gibb giving the audience a bit of the wink-and-nod? :p

It was a nightmare for him. He thought Frida was very unattractive!

I can always remember Michael Jackson on a talk show in the 90s playing down his surgeries. Was it the one with Oprah? One of those shows he had a new album to push or more 'allegations' to deny, anyway.

On this show, the host asked him about the surgical procedures and Jackson said he'd only ever had 2 things done. 'Two!', he kept repeating ridiculously..

Even at this stage his face was utterly ruined so to deny it showed how deluded Jackson was. I remember thinking that if he could lie about this it makes you wonder what other things he wasn't being honest about...

This one in my parents record collection always freaked me out as a child (but I love today):

absolutely nothing like Jarre, but worth auditioning if you like loose, folky, white blues rock.

Courtney Love. The video for "Violet" used to scare me when I was a kid, she was so angry and loud I thought she was going to jump through the TV screen and strangle me.

White Noise, especially the cut Black Mass In Hell. Heard it as a kid, and it still scares me.

This cut WILL make you pull the covers over your head and pray for the light of day.

I watched that interview as well, he basically waved goodbye to the last of his credibility on that day. I can remember the next day people talking and laughing about how can he possibly think that we believe the cleft in his chin suddenly appeared overnight as part of the ageing in his mid twenties, and that was one of his less drastic procedures...

I know. What a ridiculous figure he had become. Super creepy too.

Was this show the Oprah interview? I know he did a few of these types of shows..

That was a 2003 special called "Living with Michael Jackson" - the interviews were with Martin Bashir...

Right, thanks. I thought it might be Oprah, but it didn't feel totally right either!

I do remember thinking the interviewer shouldn't have let Jackson off the hook so easily with the answers he gave...

He gave an interview with Barbara Walters after the first child abuse scandal. He was newly 'married' to Lisa Marie Presley and they sat holding hands on the sofa. When questioned about his radically different appearance over the past years he brushed it off saying he has hardly had any surgery and it was all tabloid lies.
Barbara Walters was way to easy on him and should have challenged him further.
The body language between Michael and Lisa Marie was something else. It was as if she had just met him 10 minutes before the interview. He way overestimated people thinking they would fall for his sudden sham marriage. Talk about damage limitation.
