Sometimes there can be some real magic created when 2 or more artists work together on a song or album.

Here are a few of my favorite pairings that make me wish for more:

Stewart Copeland & Stanard Ridgway - their duet "Don't Box Me In" is a great song and Ridgeway's vocals are perfect for Copeland' s writing.

Linda Ronstadt & Ann Savoy - their Zozo Sisters project, "Adieu False Heart" is a thing of beauty. Some really inspired performances and song choices, and their voices are amazing together.

The Finn Brothers - although Neil & Tim Finn worked together in Split Enz and briefly in Crowded House, their two Finn Brothers albums were really good and sounded quite different than their more famous bands' work. The first album especially had a "homemade" vibe to it but both are excellent.

Joe Zawinul & Trilok Gurtu - on Gurtu's album, Crazy Saints, there were two duet tracks written by Zawinul. I wish they'd made an entire duo album as they had an amazing musical chemistry.

Cooder & Lindley. Saw them live a couple of times. I would buy anything by those two.

Hiatt's Bring The Family is the most brilliantly realized example of what this band was capable of. Would have loved a followup to that one.

Even though we do have some excellent records from them together, Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds never did anything on their own to match the greatness of the records they made with Rockpile. A lot of that credit also goes to Billy Bremner and Terry Williams. Man, what a great live band!

I could have done with four or five more records from this group.

This is a little different because they weren't songwriting or musical collaborators per se, but they had a performer/producer collaboration that lasted for decades. I've commented on this in other threads, but I think the Neil Young/David Briggs tandem was Neil's most important. When he died, the "quality control" on Neil's albums began to slip, and lately has dropped off almost completely....

The pairing of Tommy Keene and Robert Pollard ..... AKA: The Keene Brothers on the CD "Blues And Boogie Shoes"

The track Death Of The Party show's moments of pop glory to them both together. They need to do another one .

Andy Partridge and Robyn Hitchcock. Were rumored to have written quite a few songs together, but only one ever appeared (on Hitchcock;s Ole Tarantula).

Now it would seem that I don't care much for Michael Jackson, but that is not entirely true. I found him quite interesting back in his 'black' days.

I would have wished for a dozen albums by the Traveling Wilburys. I wish they had been much more prolific.
