Ha ... it appears I'm a couple years behind you. Brio-R* driving P3ESRs.

I have the upgrade bug, but have the oddest feeling that I won't do appreciably better without stepping up several notches to über-tube gear (Leben, Line Mag, Shindo) with bigger Harbeths, DeVores, Audio Notes etc. ... But I need to direct my paltry leftover cash in a final retirement savings push. I may be at an enforced audiophilia stopping point! Which is OK; I can enjoy music with this system.

*Sadly, the Croft couldn't beat the Brio, for me; I think I hear the measured problems J.A. noted in the Stereophile review.

For what it's worth, the Yamaha A-S2000 that replaced my Brio-R wasn't even close, though I suppose it should be at twice the price. Not even the same ballpark (in my system).

That said, I love the form factor of the Brio-R and wish I'd kept it for a second system.

Why did you dump the Rega then?

To defray the cost of the Yamaha. I wish I had just kept the Rega because I will probably buy another in the future.

Anybody had the chance to compare the Brio-R to the Elex-R?

I just got my brio r and love it. I'd like to upgrade my speakers in the future and it's nice knowing they can power the P3ESR easily. Just need a dac and I'll be set.

I have.....as good as the Brio-R is, the Elex-R is a nice step up. The Elex has the power circuits of the Elicit and to me, sounds fairly similar to the Elicit.
