All absolutely true. But there are countless other logos out there that meet the same requirements but have nowhere near the respect, simply because they're obscure. The broader point I was trying to make was that with logos, familiarity breeds respect.

Looks fine to me. I think if you start "thinking about" a logo, they'd all fall apart. But who "thinks" about logos?

    consciously?
graphic designers, marketers, MBAs, commercial art historians, design students...

    unconsciously?
everyone. that's more or less the whole point.

If you're unconscious, it pretty much precludes you from thinking anything at all!

And their concerns are meaningless is the scheme of things. Marketers, MBAs -- what do they know about art? I've worked with these people -- they depend on test audiences to tell them what is good and what isn't because they're clueless. Graphic designers, commerical art historians, design students -- they're hoping to make a buck and assuage their ego with an "I made it moment." Tell me what is meaningful about the best-known logo in the world "GOOGLE." And ordinary font in a couple colors. A million experts would have turned up their well-schooled noses at that logo and laughed at it. Did it or does it make a bit of difference if it's creatively any good -- not a whit. You know why? It says "Google." That's the name. That's the point of a logo. To state a brand name. The rest is is fluff. "Commerical art historian" It's amazing how some people make a buck.

I instantly wanted an orange Fanta, and I don't even drink orange soda or really any soda anymore.
