Yeah, Slave's the best track on that side, by far. Start Me Up is their most overrated single, IMO.

    Whaaaa???

Well, at least it's not something off Dirty Work. :D

But, do you really like Silver Train more than songs like Gimme Shelter?

Or anything off "Black and Blue" Lol...
    It's a personal favorite so...
    Silver Train > Everything
I wouldn't say it's their most important song but I'd much rather listen to that over "Gimme Shelter" any day.
"Gimme Shelter" isn't even in my top 30. As for their hit singles, these are at the top of my list...
    Dandelion
    Get Off of My Cloud
    Emotional Rescue
    Waiting on a Friend
    19th Nervous Breakdown

One day you will learn to appreciate Black and Blue. :tsk: :D

I think Waiting on a Friend was their last really good single.

Wait a minute JohnnyQuest, did you actually put Emotional Rescue as one of your favourite Stones songs?

    :yikes:

I already do appreciate it for what it is. (An awkward transitional record that has a few enjoyable moments.) :p I like Crazy Mama,Hot Stuff & Fool to Cry.
You got that right. :D It's like a parody of...

I always thought of it as a parody of Miss You. :shh:

"Miss You"? Lol Give it another listen..You might be mistaking it for something else. :p
Don't forget the awesome follow up single "Hangfire". It's a shame that it didn't reach the same level of success as "Waiting on a Friend".

No, I meant it was kind of like "Look at us we can do disco really good (Miss You), and we can also do it really cheesy (Emotional Rescue)".

As for Hangfire, I've never liked any fast Stones song since the Some Girls album. I'm not a Ronnie Wood era guy. :shake:

It was kind of like "Let's make a fun tongue in cheek song that will hit the top of charts because we're so ****** good we can make that happen" type of thing. :p
I've always liked their upbeat, fast paced rockers. :) The Stones shine the brightest on songs like that. (Imo)

Alice In Chains - The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. Side 1 kicks ass. Side 2 doesn't blow, but isn't really memorable.

Some of you might think I've completely lost my mind, but Kate Bush's Hounds of Love. Side one has stronger songs, and the surreal atmosphere was done better on The Dreaming.

  17. Every song on that album is perfect. And Mental Medication is probably my favorite on the whole thing.

I really dig the bass and the slide playing in "Silver Train", but "Winter" is one of the Stones best ever ballads. IMHO. I love it.

For their most overrated single, I would have to choose from...

    "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll"
    "Fool To Cry"
    "Miss You"
    "Emotional Rescue"
    "She's So Cold"

...any of those fit the bill.

I know a lot of people will disagree - but the Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society has a Stellar Side one and a decidedly average, getting on for poor side two.

Side 2 opens well, but after the second track on side two (Village Green) it goes rapidly downhill and is just not on a par with any of side one (in my opinion).

Yeah...don't know that you'll have too many in your corner on that one. "Wicked Annabella" for starters...

I don't see what all the fuss is about with Wicked Annabella - it sounds lazy, half-hearted and half-finished to me, Phenomenal Cat might have been ok as a quirky B-side, Starstruck is another example of lazy songwriting, Monica just meanders and not in a good way, all of my friends were there and pictures of each other I just find irritating.

Songs like Days and Mr Songbird were much better contenders for side two, even Pretty Polly wouldn't have been out of place.

Always thought it was cool that we got EIGHT songs on that side.
