I've been waiting on Shindo to build some Lafon gm70 monoblocks, but he hasn't done a production run yet. Matt let me know that he had a Cortese that someone traded in to move up the line. Since I get 100% credit when I do move to the Lafon's, I jumped at a chance to have the Cortese in my system.

They arrived yesterday along with a Mr. T power conditioner. I didn't have time to tidy up because my other amp has been in the shop for a few weeks and it's been awhile since I had some music in the house.

My initial impressions... the bass is shockingly good for a little 10 watt SET amp that probably weighs 20-25 pounds. Taunt, explosive and toneful. Everything sounded fantastic. Big plus is that the amp has left/right controls. I've never had that on an amp before and it really helps dial in the system given that my room isn't fully enclosed.

Looking forward to some heavy listening the next few weeks.

Shindo does wonderful things with the F2A tube. With your speakers, I would doubt that you need more power. Enjoy!

Congrats on the wonderful new goodies. Have you tried the turntable directly on the Box rack?

Really enjoy the posts/updates/pics on your system Brian. Very nice, and nice to see such a clean setup.

Beautiful rig and room both it seems.

I love the names of various Shindo components. Haut-Brion, Vosnee-Romanee, and Mr. T.

Thanks. Last thing I need to do at this point is cover up all of the ugly GIK panels. Then I'll take some proper photos. I think my room is nicer than it seems in the pics I get on my iPhone, but still some work to do. If only I can get my ass off the couch...

BTW, those are some serious Asian antiques in your photo. Is that a statue to the right?

Good eye. That's my Terracotta Warrior, Jose. He keeps out pesky women folk and occasionally warped vinyl.

I'm too lazy to get off the couch right now to take a pic, but Jose looks exactly like this...
