I'll take the challenge: Press To Play.
I know it's cheating (just a little bit), but I have to include some b-sides:

    Stranglehold
    Footprints
    However Absurd
    It's Not True
    Tough on a Tightrope

I suggest these 5 songs from the still-unreleased Cold Cuts:

    A Love For You
    Waterspout
    Momma's Little Girl
    Did We Meet Somewhere Before
    Best Friend

  5. Brian Kelly

Brian Kelly 1964-73 rock's best decade

These are the top 5 from my favorite McCartney albums

    RAM:
    Too Many People
    Dear Boy
    Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
    Heart Of The Country
    Back Seat Of My Car

    TUG OF WAR:
    Tug Of War
    Wanderlust
    Ballroom Dancing
    Here Today
    Ebony And Ivory

    FLAMING PIE:
    Calico Skies
    Somedays
    Little Willow
    Young Boy
    Beautiful Night

And for the record my BAND ON THE RUN would be:
    Band On The Run
    Jet
    Mrs. Vanderbilt
    Picasso's Last Words
    1985

Precisely what I was going to type! You are a noble person of extraordinary and refined taste, clearly.

It really is Paul's sketch pad for the next Beatles album that never was...would have been classic, but these will do just fine.

As Venus and Mars may well be my favorite...

1, 2 Venus and Mars/Rock Show - hard not to think of them as one song
    3 Letting Go
    4 Medicine Jar
5 Listen to What the Man Said

I get exactly what you are saying - for years I have taken the best of back-to-back albums to make one good one.
I have always left McCartney, Band on the Run, Ram and Chaos as complete albums.

The rest are easy to cherry pick the best of two for a great album. I actually like to pilfer non-album singles.

    Tug of War/Pipes of Peace
    Tug of War
    Take it Away
    Somebody Who Cares
    Wanderlust
    Here Today
    Pipes of Peace
    The Other Me
    So Bad
    Keep Under Cover
    Through Out Love

    *consecutive

Jeez, I was really sleeping. Anyway, it's too hard to cherry pick from 'Chaos And Creation', so from 'Memory Almost Full' it would be:

    Ever Present Past
    See Your Sunshine
    Only Mama Knows
    Feet In The Clouds
    House Of Wax

Get used to it, babe -- Paul and the other Beatles are phenomenons that will be continually discussed long after you and I are gone! :agree:

    2. Figure of Eight
    3. Put It There
    4. That Day Is Done
    5. Flying To My Home

now... degree of difficulty... Broad Street...
    1. No More Lonely Night
    2. No Values
    3. Not Such a Bad Boy
    4. Wanderlust (cover) - I actually prefer this to the one on TOW
    5. Here, There and Everywhere cover - another nice version

I think Flaming Pie has the strongest set of 5 songs of maybe any album he's done.

    Calico Skies
    Little Willow
    The Song We Were Singing
    Somedays
    Beautiful Night

I could probably ditch 3 of those songs and replace them with others from the same album and it be just as strong.

I could list my five favourite songs from each album. Problem is, I just couldn't then pick a favourite bunch of five. it would just be picking one randomly for the sake of it.

This woulda been one helluva EP!

    1. Figure of Eight
    2. Put it There
    3. We Got Married
    4. Things We Said Today
    5. Don't let the sun catch you crying

Interestingly for those that worry about Pauls' voice today, I believe he has much more mastery of it now! I like Tripping but he seemed to over-sing much of it....

If we're saying what albums could be considered great on the back of only 5 songs, here are my albums:

    Tug Of War
    Band On The Run
    Venus and Mars
    Flowers In The Dirt
    Off The Ground (just barely)
    Flaming Pie
    Chaos and Creation
    Memory Almost Full
    Electric Arguments
    New

^thats a pretty damn good amount of albums, haha

Replace one of the last two with "How Kind Of You" and I'm all in. How you overlooked that is beyond me. One of the best tracks on the whole album :).

Actually, I didn't overlook it...it was originally on the list but it was edited out for the others...just too strong of an album to narrow down to five. Believe me, I love that track!!

it is my very honest opinion that if 'band on the run" can't be included, the only other possibility is "flaming pie" because none of the other albums (other than best of's of greatest hits) have 5 good songs...
