That's what I was wondering also until I found this http://www.discogs.com/artist/367337-Chester-Thompson-2
I thought I recognized that name when I saw the post yesterday. I just listened to a cd he made with Omar Sosa, a personal favorite entitled Pictures Of Soul.
Roy Haynes – Fountain of Youth (Dreyfus Jazz) — With Marcus Strickland, John Sullivan, Matrin Bejerano; includes 3 Monk tunes; live at Birdland, NYC
I thought you probably did, being a photographer, but just in case you hadn't.....I didn't discover it until the book came out about W.Eugene Smith and his jazz loft chronicle. It's a favorite of mine as well. WP The Trio (Riverside) Blue DG, mono NP Sonny Rollins - Now's The Time (RCA) Black stereo label w/dog. The Trio is the first lp from Walter Norris, accompanied by Billy Bean (g) and Hal Gaylor (b).
Gerry Mulligan and Thelonious Monk - Mulligan Meets Monk (Japan VDJ-1643) Gerry Mulligan, bariton sax Thelonious Monk, piano Wilbur Ware, bass Shadow Wilson, drums
Wow - I didn't even know that existed! I've got the Peace Church album he did with David Murray, but that's it. It needs a CD reissue, methinks. There are two copies available on Discogs, but both are only rated VG and both are over $100 each.
WP Sonny Stitt and Paul Gonzalves - Salt and Pepper (Impulse) orig. stereo black & orange, Van Gelder pressing NP McCoy Tyner - Expansions ((Blue Note) 70s solid blue label. Woody Shaw - t Gary Bartz - as, wooden flute Wayne Shorter - ts, clarinet! Herbie Lewis - b Freddie Waits - d With that heavy front line and dream rhythm section there are bound to be sparks as well as delicate beauty and they do indeed deliver on both counts. One of my favorite, among many of Tyner's ouevrer.
Love Hank Crawford's Milestone albums and not just the collaborations with Jimmy McGriff!---so tasty....
