:( Thanks for the music that was such a big part of that 70's soundtrack so many of us grew up with. R.I.P.

  6. Quite a surprise. Seeing Hot Chocolate on TOTP was a regular fixture for me as a kid. Errol always came across as a true gent. Sad news.

We just had a Hot Chocolate "party" here in my office. We listened to a couple of their greatest hits at fairly high volume.
I was lucky that none of my superiors and no client came by in that 30 minutes. :)

    Another sad loss.
He had a cracking voice, and always looked like he was having a great time.
I remember frequently watching Hot Chocolate on Top On The Pops and thinking that Errol was the most effortlessly cool guy I'd ever seen.
    Bye Errol, sleep well.

One of the most consistently excellent singles bands the UK has ever produced, a lot of their early albums are damn fine too. I absolutely love You Could've Been A Lady and Errol's despairing shriek towards the end of Emma always sends shivers down my spine.

When I interviewed him I asked about Emma and he told me that it was based upon something that he had seen in his own life.

Of course that gave Ian Lloyd & Stories a #1 and million selling Billboard Hit.
Just like Brown gave April Wine their first US hit a year earlier with "You Could Have Been A Lady".

These guys owe Errol Brown massive credit for their biggest hit.

I always thought of Hot Chocolate as one hit wonders (maybe two). But after reading about their UK success I listened to their first two albums. Good stuff.

Keyboardist Larry Ferguson also died, just a week or so ago.
