    Hi guys.

I'm interested in upgrading to Harbeth but I can't afford to buy new, nor will I be able to afford anything "almost new," "nearly new," "just bought," or "immaculate." Those are out of my price range.

I think my budget would be more along the lines of "here are some speakers that I don't use anymore but sound amazing."

Can i get anything under a grand or am i just wasting my time?

    thanks

I don't see many used Harbeths come up for sale to be honest. You can get some great sounding speakers for a grand though - particularly if you stick with bookshelf speakers. One you might consider is the Ascend Sierra: it's in your price range, and I recall reading about a blind speaker shoot-out on another forum where the Sierra performed magnificently against some very high priced competition (including the B&W 805). I do need to add that I've never heard the Sierra so I'm just going on other reviews and reports, but from all accounts it's a great speaker at a great price.

I bought a mint used set of original P3's from my local dealer for $500...

I paid about 1600 for a clean used pair of the latest P3s in the nicer finish. On audiogon a few months ago.

I would like to find a nice clean pair as well. Checking Ebay everyday for the last two weeks hasn't brought anything to light.

Pack a lunch! They don't come up often.

I recently saw a pair of the Compact 7s listed on Audiogon for around your budget. It amazed me as the price was so low. I don't recall which model designation they had but they were gone pretty quick.

But - if the OP 'scroes' a used set - then all is ok! :righton:
