I think Revolver will win just about anything it's up against, and I'm not even one of the forum Beatles fans.

    Sgt. Pepper was self-titled.

Where's the option to rate them the same? While I do somewhat prefer the quality of songs of Revolver over Pepper, there are three songs on the latter -- Within You Without You, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite, and A Day in the Life -- which elevate it into the same spot as the former.

Revolver is my least listened to Beatles LP. Too choppy and don't like Paul's syruppy songs on this one. Also don't care for George's songs.

I say Revolver. I think that after Rubber Soul and Abbey Road, it's The Beatles' most thoroughly strong album.

I guess that means you prefer the UK version of the album versus the USA version... ;)

Well, actually don't prefer either version over Pepper. But yes, do believe the UK is better than the US version.

  16. I bought all the Beatles American albums as they were released and Sgt. Pepper is the first one that disappointed me.

No one has ever convinced me that there is a great Beatles track between Getting Better and Good Morning Good Morning.

Revolver on the other hand is basically perfect.

I said that because the 3 songs removed from the USA version of Revolver were all John Lennon songs. So if you don't like George's songs, or Paul's syrupy songs, then you probably wouldn't want 3 fewer John songs. Otherwise, there's not much left for you to like.

Both can win in a non-random-poll universe, and do.

Revolver. As I heard someone say years ago, Sgt. Pepper is a better ALBUM, but Revolver has better SONGS.

Revolver is a prism - it appears to be a simple pop album till you hear it in the right light. Then you get the rainbows. Brilliant.

Sgt Pepper lacks the clarity of purpose that Revolver has, and suffers in comparison. Sgt Pepper is the Beatles at the top of their game, letting their minds wander (where it will go) so naturally the results are spectacular. But the rest of their catalog - however intuitive and fruitful and enjoyable it is - suffers from a lack of focus. Revolver is where it peaked.

I think Revolver initially got a bad shake in the USA with the butchering of the track listing.
When Revolver came on CD, I think that gave more people a wider appreciate of Revolver

Here is a link to a comparison

As for my opinion, I think Revolver is amazing....and a big step up from Rubber Soul

two masterpieces... revolver for me though. It really was a the first peak for McCartney, all of his songs on this album are timeless. George's tarcks "fit" on Revolver...and Johnny Moondog entered his experimantal pahes. perfection.
