I am hoping that the next time I 'Check My Machine' and look on the forum, that Moontrekker will be my (secret) Friend.

I apologise on behalf of the forum. :D

"has given up marijuana" seems fairly definitive. It's part of a whole article about how he "stays fit" if you're into that kind of thing. Here's the original:

Reason I asked is that I seem to remember reading this news years ago. Took him long enough to do the right thing for his kids!?

He said pretty much the same thing in a Rolling Stone interview three years ago.

McCartney says he's quit pot altogether, after many years and many inconvenient busts – most notably in Japan, when he famously ended up in jail for nine days. "I did a lot, and it was enough," he says. "I smoked my share. When you're bringing up a youngster, your sense of responsibility does kick in, if you're lucky, at some point. Enough's enough – you just don't seem to think it's necessary."

I'd bet it was his kids who told him none of that around the grandkids!
(Weren't "the kids" present for more than one arrest?)

I thought it was ex wife Heather that made him quit.

The ex-wife should have been a reason for him to smoke even more!!! ;)

Clearly Paul's next project should be a Yoga for Oldies video.

Much have been said about this haunting and beatiful ballad. Of course the melody is the main thing that makes it stick out. Imo one of the better melodies from the master of melodies.
Another thing that makes this a one of a kind effort is the spare arrangement. There is a clear feeling of sadness and isolation in this song that the almost demo-like arrangement emphasice. I have seen Paul himself saying that a big orchestrated arrangement would have been a good thing. I for one enjoy what we have
The lyrics are weird but fits remarkable well for this outstanding effort that -at least for me-gets better each year.

Totally in love with this unusual, experimental, weird and so 'unpop' album, which shows Paul's real creativity and talents. My favorite Paul's album along with McCartney 1970 & Ram. Temporary Secretary and Boogie Music are superb.

    OBviously, 'weird' ain't easy!
"Liverpool Sound Collage" is quite tiresome. It gets a pass from me, since it was made to go with Blake's art show.
On the other hand, I thought "Rushes" was beautiful!

Best appreciated IMO while listening to it on headphones, as I was coming to work tonight. McCartney II is an album I kind of take for granted as I've heard it so many times, so it's easy for me to forget just how much effort and thought he went to to achieve some of the sounds -particularly guitar and drum sounds- on the recordings. I admit, some of the different vocal affectations/effects Paul uses can be little bit much at times -it seems as though he doesn't sing any one complete song in his 'normal' singing voice- but musically it's great. Which is why it cheeses me off a bit when people write the album off as being half-a-sed or whatever because they obviously haven't sat down and really listened to the damned thing...

To me McCartney 2 is much more sincere album than most of Wings' LPs.

I'll go ya one better and say McCartney II is a more sincere album than most of McCartney's albums period...and I'd almost be tempted to include at least a couple of Beatles albums to that list, now that I think about it...

Yes. And McCartney 1 is also very McCartnish, so real, weird, nice, gentle and intelligently insane.

Paul was recently quoted as saying McCartney I and Band on the Run were his favorite albums of his own. Isn't it interesting that those two, plus McCartney II were all virtually solo efforts? I know that Band on the Run was with Denny and Linda, but mostly Paul. I hope Paul does it again where he does all the instruments and production. Rushes is another one that is a duo with Youth but again not a band per se...

I hope we get a McCartney III or McCartney Goes Too Far with tape loops before it is all said and done.

Yes. McCartney III is a great idea. And he is still creative and strong.
