When a single cable costs more than my system, I'm out. :hide:

I'm a few hours in with my returned cable. The listening experience is so much better in so many ways, contrasted with the OFC zip cord, that I simply wouldn't believe it without hearing it. I guess the bottom line for me is that if I can't stop spinning discs then something is right. Not scientific, but so what.

With that said, even my very real world system has more than a couple grand in "wire", power cords, power distribution, and power conditioning. One could put together a nice little system at that price. This fact doesn't change anything for me or for you or even for Steve.

Heh, yes. Most audiophiles are fickle about things like wire (and speakers, amps, etc.) and trade stuff in a lot, practically brand new for not much money. That's the best way to get the good stuff at a reasonable price if you're on a budget.

Well said Bill. "Random distortion", hmmmm I'd have thought I'd be constant if anything.

You bet! My most expensive cables have all been clearance and usually around 25-30% of the full price. And always on a trial and return basis. Then if the differences aren't apparent then it just goes back. Handy for the more expensive items.

    Here's the true giant killer.
If you havent tried them you must audition Anti-cables.
My system is so detailed its as good as (and mostly better than) any live performance sound quality Ive ever heard.
The nice part is these cables cost very little.I mean a little more than the cost of copper.
I use unterminated bulk Anti-cable for speakers .ICs have Eichman bullets.
If you have good components ,these cables will reveal the slightest minute details in music .
If you have bad components, save yourself money by not buying expensive cables.
Get Anti-cable and with the money you save ,then upgrade your components.
Im not affiliated in any way.

How is Anti-Cable speaker wire better than, say, Monoprice OFC wire of the same gauge?

Done. btw I should add a caveat. My system sounds as good or better than amplified club or festival venues.Which is where I frequent live performances.

Do you have tomato sauce on a white pudding supper? I find that if the the pudding is moist, I dont need to. Certainly nothing on a haggis supper.

I find that when I go with a more expensive ketchup, there's a lot more air around the tomatoes, the vinegar is crisp and transparent, and the salt stage becomes more three-dimensional.

Always a condiment - either chippy sauce or tomato sauce. Then again, you have to remember, the only time I eat that stuff is the far side of midnight, several drinks to the good, too late to cook, too drunk to cook and needing eats. My planned trip to Le Gavroche and the palate required goes well out the window on those odd occasions...!!

I use Van Damme cabling myself. If it's good enough for Abbey Road Studios... :agree:

I haven't heard that brand. But don't Abbey Road Studios also use B&Ws as mix monitors?
