Some of these may change someday, but I'm quite satisfied with my current list:

    1. Rush - Signals (though Power Windows could take this spot someday...)

    3. Genesis - Genesis (Shapes, Mama, s/t, etc.)
    4. Wally Badarou - Echoes
    5. The Police - Ghost in the Machine

It's too difficult to compare single and multi-disc releases.

    Single Albums:

The Dark Side Of The Moon
    Abbey Road
    Let It Bleed
    Who's Next
    Led Zeppelin IV

    Multi-disc Albums:

    The Beatles
    Physical Graffiti
    Exile On Main Street
    All Things Must Pass
    The Wall

I can't figure out the who's next votes. These songs are so over played on the radio, I can't hear them ever again. Revolver is another head scratcher. It's too inconsistent. You got yellow submarine which is almost intolerable, an Indian raga, and some psych vamp at the end (yes the rest of the tunes are really good).

Counting Crows - August And Everything After

I always enjoyed the singles, specifically "Mr. Jones", but it wasn't until my cousin passed away and I heard "Rain King" at the funeral that I really became attached to the album as a whole. It's one of my go-to albums when I want to reminisce, wax nostalgic, or just get exactly what I need to hear at that moment.

    Tom Petty - Wildflowers

First heard the single "You Don't Know How It Feels" when I was in sixth grade at my friend Mitch Quist's house. We would play it on loop just to hear the lyric "so let's get to the point, let's roll another joint." To be so easily amused again. It still ranks as my favorite Petty album, solo or otherwise, with She's The One a close second.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication

This was a tough choice, in that I enjoy all of their output and the evolution they've experienced as a band. Some time in the early '90s, probably fourth or fifth grade, a gentleman came to my school and gave a presentation involving a synthesizer. One classmate, Jerome, was asked what his favorite band was, to which he responded with RHCP. The guy proceeded to add multiple effects to Jerome's vocal, and thus my love for synths and RHCP was born. Californication was their welcome back party for me, and especially with Frusciante back in the fold.

    The Doors - Morrison Hotel

My dad introduced me to The Doors, and the first song I ever remember loving by them was "Peace Frog." My dad being from Chicago, I was intrigued by the lyric "blood in the streets in the town of Chicago." He owned all the Morrison-led albums, and I ended up with them when he passed, making the connection that much stronger. Probably my favorite band from 60s-70s to this day.

Ryan Adams - Love Is Hell

I'm counting this one as a single album, and if I'm taking these to a desert island for my last days I'll be grabbing the recent MoFi reissue with the Japanese bonus tracks. As for the choice itself, the "Wonderwall" cover is still the standout to me, with "The Shadowlands" a close second. The guitar solo in the latter really does it for me.

I think that Who's Next gets plenty of votes, simply because it's one of the greatest rock albums of all time. I would love it to be overplayed on the radio down here...even just played would be a achievement!

    * Paul Simon - "Rhythm of the Saints"
    * Paul Simon - "Hearts and Bones"
    * Janis Ian - "Stars"
    * Janis Ian - "Between the Lines"
    * ABBA - "Voulez-Vous"

This is soo unfair! I´d like to include at least ten more choices. My choices are generally the same most days, but about fifty albums alternate in being favourites. You know, some days you feel like a bit of ABBA, other days you want to go a bit deeper with a Leonard Cohen or Janis Ian album, or perhaps Bruce Cockburn, Carly Simon, Bee Gees, Elton John, Queen, ELO, Tarney Spencer Band... This is too hard!

john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

Hard to narrow down from my list (that I first put together 15 or so years ago and update every few months -- currently listing 64 albums) but I can cut it down to seven (only one album per artist for this thread):

    #1 BEATLES: “The White Album”

    in alphabetical order:

    THE DOORS: “Strange Days”

    GRATEFUL DEAD: “American Beauty”

    JETHRO TULL: “Benefit”

    THE KINKS: “Something Else”

    THE WHO: “Who’s Next”

    NEIL YOUNG: “On the Beach”

    1. Who's Next - Pete made the right choice in abandoning Lifehouse. Who's Next is perfect!
    2. Born To Run - Get outta my way if I'm playing this one in the car.
    3. St. Dominic's Preview - Try to not sing along with the title track. Go ahead. I dare you.
    4. Let It Bleed - The Stones never sounded better.
    5. Rubber Soul (American Version) - Beatles 101 - Start earning that degree now.
