She played Cindy Mancini in the movie from 1987 Can't Buy me Love. Great eighties flick. She played in the movie The Explores as well but left Hollywood in the early 90's. Father said mold and sleep apnea could have played a part but it sounded more like she had other issues perhaps suicide.

Sad news. She was very good in CBML, but unfortunately, like so many other talented actors her career really never clicked.

Sad news. She was 15-16 when she made CBML by the way. Didn't know that before tonight.

Very sad. The TIFF Lightbox just played Can't Buy Me Love this past Friday as part of their '80s retrospective series.

She was also great in the short-lived TV series A Year in the Life.

  9. God I am so glad I wasnt a child actor. Very few of them make a good transition to the real world.

Very sad news, she was gorgeous. I remember her from A Year in the Life and some TV movie about women posing for a men's magazine. RIP.

I remember people were really looking for about 10 or so years ago, I think she did turn up though, away from the business, etc. So sad....

I loved Can't Buy Me Love. I remember watching it in the late 80's as a hormone infested teen and being in love with her.

And now she's dead. Unreal. Time marches on.

    RIP Amanda.

I remember her being in Annie. Her solo during the song "Sandy" was cute. RIP.

On a side note, ever notice that Can't Buy me Love is one of the rare movies that plays a beatles song in it (And I think the whole song is played over the opening credits)
It must cost a lot of money for a beatles song in a movie.

BTW great film....and she really was great in that film

I really liked this movie, in a "cute way". It's odd seeing how her career played out, as opposed to Patrick Dempsey's.

Hey, I didn't wish to be the bearer of bad news, but Amanda's mother is the only person speaking out about her daughter's death, and she is promoting the idea that drugs were not in her daughter's life currently and that her very premature death was likely due to sleep apnea and mold in the previous home she lived in. Take the fact that Amanda's daughter lives with Amanda's ex-husband and put them together with her various arrests over the years for drunk driving, dangerous drug possession and multiple charges of child abuse, and I don't think it was mold and snoring that killed the 43 year-old woman.
