Tough pick. I went with Tumbling Dice by a nose over Shattered but there are easily another 5-6 in the mix.

Also: wasn't aware that Rocks Off was officially released as a single?

I voted for Brown Sugar over You Can't Always Get What You Want and Happy but I also really like All Down The Line which was only released as a single in the U.S if I remember correctly.

Sorry JohnnyQuest but I despise Emotional Rescue.

Some of personal favourites: Waiting on a Friend, Wild Horses, Happy, Beast of Burden and Shattered but I picked Tumbling Dice as best single.

Rocks Off is my favorite song of theirs, I forgot it was a single.
But it seems it came out in Japan with Sweet Virginia on the flipside.
I always thought it sad the 3 basic F's:

    fight and **** and feed

Surprised Dice is doing so well, it is such a lazy song, not the one I would expect people to pick.
I think Good Time Women might be better.

For me it was down to Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, or Tumbling Dice. BS won out by a hair.

A public hair I take it.

Why is 1969's "You Can't Always Get What You Want" on this list?

Are the Stones the only band who could get away with the lyrics to "Brown Sugar"?!? If there was controversy about it back when, I don't remember it.

First "new" Stones single I remember hearing on the radio growing up was "Harlem Shuffle", so... "Brown Sugar".

It was released as a single and charted in 1973.

Earlier recorded tracks like Sad Day, Out Of Time and I Don't Know Why were also released as singles during this period.

I believe the 1973 release was paired with Sad Day.

    None.
They are all album tracks pulled off to plug the album not singles.
Jumping Jack Flash - now that's a single.
We Love You - f yeah now that's a single.
Just to piss off Stones fans...Hey Jude, Paperback Writer now those are singles .....
None of the tracks you've listed are really singles are they ? They are plugs taken from the album. That's the death of the single right there. Sadly that's not exclusive to the Stones it was industry-wide. I think it's a really big shame that singles became simply a promotional tool for an album. That was a much more infrequent (!) occurrence in the 60s in the UK. Just check the fabs, stones, kinks, who, yardbirds etc singles.
Sorry , not being deliberately obtuse. You didn't give me that option up top.
Anyone else with me or should i stick a pen in my heart and spill it right here on the page ?

Wild Horses and Tumbling Dice are equally great.

The rest aren't bad either, until you get to 1983

The real great Stones singles are in the Brian Jones era. :agree:
