Well, the Surf Punks' "My Beach," of course:

 

This was literally filmed in my back yard in Hawaii and I cast the thing with my local friends who were hot surfers. 3 days of fun, huge budget, and lots of stuff I can't talk about. Turned out to be a pretty big hit for Sheryl.

 

I seem to remember a Morrissey one from the early 90's but I couldn't bear to trawl You Tube looking for it these days.

Can't find it now, but Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd did a rare promo video in 1967 for "Arnold Layne" filmed on a beach with a mannequin.

 

Another one, from early Yes ("Then"). It had to be pointed out to me that the atrocious synching is partially due to the fact that Chris Squire and Tony Kaye switched instruments for the video.

Also, bonus question: is Steve Howe's look of abject misery throughout the video due to:

A: It appears to be near-freezing temperature on the beach where this was shot.
B: He's being made to stand in the freezing cold and mime guitar parts that were played on the record by another guy altogether (Peter Banks).
C: He always looks like that.
D: All of the above.

I would say all of the above for Steve Howe's look of misery.

 

The late Herb Ritts directed this classic. Helena Christensen & Chris on a secret black sand beach on the Big Island of Hawaii. There were a few different versions but the original long version still looks amazing today (couldn't find on YouTube). Everyone knew it would be a hit, but it took almost a year for this song to take off. Interestingly, Helena is now a highly regarded photographer, and has just started modeling again as well. She still looks fantastic!
