Poll: Best Ever Band from Los Angeles, The Beach Boys vs. The Doors

Granted? Hmm. Where do you think he honed his harmony craft? That's right -- 1963~1965. I'd agree with criticism that the lyrics were mostly disposable, but the vocals, especially Brian Wilson's never sounded better than in the music you call ********. In fact, that's where most of us, in fact millions of us of a certain age fell in love with the sound.

crazy to me ,Beach Boys are tops ,and The Doors are much better than the Eagles

 

The Doors, easily. No contest, and I like the BBs, but the Doors blow them away IMO.

Agreed. These two bands were so different in what they were aiming to accomplish that it's difficult to even compare them. Art is not some kind of a contest or sporting event where you can clearly measure the winners and losers. These kinds of debates rarely lead to much insightful commentary but rather tend to elicit knee jerk dismissals and backbiting.

 

The sentence highlighted above exemplifies nicely a fact I wasn't aware of before I joined this forum, that's the ever polarizing effect of the Doors: the "nail in the coffin" feel here you rarely see targeted so harshly towards other acts.

 

Love the Doors, but the Beach Boys are my choice for best American band ever.

Doors. Never really got the appeal of the Beach Boys, they released one good album.

The Doors aren't my favorite LA band though, that would be Motley Crue or Guns 'n' Roses.
