Been playing guitar since 16 (1972) ,self taught but for six months of lessons from a Berklee grad in 1976. I'm split between electric and acoustic. Finger style Blues and Ragtime are my favorite and open tuned stuff on the Celtic,Folk,Blues side. Not great but unique and original is the best assessment of my playing/composition skills. I keep things simple on electric lead and James Burton,Robbie Robertson, Terry Clements were some of my influences early on and RT,MK,Clapton later on. Acoustic,Elizabeth Cotton,Bromberg,Stefan Grossman,Tom Paley,Norman Blake,John Renbourn,Pierre,Will Ackerman,Mississippi John,RJ,Gary Davis all made big impressions.
Play a bit of Celtic mandolin and frustrated claw hammer banjo player never seeming to get past the basics.

    In a rudimentary way -
I can: bang out a few chords on guitar, and a few notes on piano
I could: bang out a few notes on a bass guitar

But if the question is what do I play well: nothing!

    I play guitar.

I've always listened to, talked about, became excited by, and searched out music...and about 4 years ago on our 23rd wedding anniversary my wife gave me a guitar. She basically said, "Here, stupid. Isn't it about time?" She said this with love, of course. So, I'm self-taught, can play a bunch of chords, and some sloppy, abstract-cuz-I'm-not-that-good-at-it-and-probably-couldn't-repeat-them-if-I-tried leads. Once I learned the chords, I started writing and making songs in a friend's man-cave and at home using a MacBook Pro and Garageband.

At age 55, I continue to progress slowly towards superstardom.

Seriously, though, it's a great hobby and good brain exercise as it and I get older.

The best producer I ever worked with (also the best engineer) couldn't play a lick of music. But he could rock the air guitar like nobody! You knew the track was coming together when he started winding up the arm in the control room.

Guitar for 35 years ... I have no interest in another instrument. I started with a small four-string guitar (an ancient variety of the classical guitar called "cuatro") and after a while my father then gave me my first guitar.

I've been playing since the mid 60s.
I play mostly guitar, mostly because that is what I get called to do. I am booked nearly every week right now as a guitarist.
Various styles, acoustic or electric, fingersyle and slide.
I also have gigged on bass, my skills on it are equal to that of guitar.
I play drums mostly in the studio. My age and physical situation is slowly taking drums off the list.
    Mandolin and Banjo.
I had a steel guitar here for some years and used it in the studio. I haven't played one in years but given a reason I could figure it out again.
If it has strings I can figure it out , given the incentive.

I'm a music teacher with no qualifications you can frame. I don't concentrate on teaching people how to play, I teach them that music is fun using any instrument I can.

If I had to legally define myself, I'm a Hammond organist but I play other keyboards too.

In my teens I was taught brass instruments and taught myself the guitar.
In my early-80s bands I was the guitarist then organist (Jennings organ).
In my mid-80s band I was the singer/bassist (Fender Precision) and taught myself tenor sax. Nowadays, it's a Conn alto.
In my 90s bands I played the Hammond/Moog in one and was singer/guitar (Les Paul Jr.) in another.
In my 00s and current band I sing, play a Nord or the Hammond.
I am a songwriter and have always sung, I love being a harmonist but sing my own songs out front.
The piano I come home to is a Kawai upright.
And I'm having a fruitful liaison with a Theremin.

Trombone. Not much in recent years, but I used to play in brass ensembles when I was younger. Classical music (with a little Jazz once in a while, but I wasn't any good at improvisation).

Switch to Banjo. You could be Steve Martin.

Do you have an actual VCS3? I just have the ipad version. It sounds good but difficult to program.

For me played guitar and bass for over 30 years, many of those years professionally. Also can play Banjo, Uke, and Mandolin and some Piano/Keyboards. Have begun seriously studying the Sitar recently since I love Indian Classical music so much... and it's a new challenge.
