Elvis, with Gordon and the gang tackling Weir/Barlow's "I Need A Miracle". (Recorded like it was 1958!)

BTW, Shame on you Uly for a thread that will keep potheads busy for the next century.

Coronation Street theme by Jimi Hendrix. No... seriously, I'm not trolling here. That plaintive horn melody just lends itself to a 'Star Spangled Banner' reinvention, Hendrix style.

For some reason I can hear these two covers loud and clear in my head :

    -Stevie Wonder doing Utopia's Alone.

-Willie Nelson singing The Korgis' Everybody's Got To Learn Sometimes

I've wanted to hear McCartney do this song ever since I first heard it 11 years ago:

(that's not the album cover, BTW)

Subterranean Homesick Blues, covered by Billie Holiday. Will settle for Madeleine Peyroux.

Orgasm Addict, performed by Paul Anka. Meanwhile:

We finally got an official release of the Beach Boys doing "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" from the mid 70s with just Brian doing the lead vocals. I really wish that they had done a full band version with all of the Boys kicking on the various different parts.

I wish Elvis had recorded The Guess Who's These Eyes during the 1969 Memphis Sessions.

Current-day Bob Dylan doing a take of James McMurtry's "Choctaw Bingo" is high on my list (although Ray Wylie Hubbard did an admirable cover of his own).

Shoot Out The Lights - Led Zeppelin

This one has one of those dinosaur riffs Led Zep was so great at and Robert Plant is a well known fan of RT so how about it guys? Charity/RSD item? You're welcome.

  16. "You Can't Always Get What You Want" (Rolling Stones) but covered by Bob Dylan (with his prime mid-60s extreme vocal inflections and nasally tone). Forget about the fact that '65/'66 Bob would need a time machine to hear this Stones song from the future. It would be awesome!

"Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka by Echo and the Bunnymen. Let Mac get his inner-Anthony Newley out.
I also wouldn't mind hearing Bowie or Bryan Ferry take a pass at it.

I always wanted to hear Don McLean's "Dreidel" sung by Bryan Ferry, with or without Roxy Music.

Knowing how much of a fan Paul McCartney is of Pet Sounds, I always wanted to hear his rendition of "God Only Knows".

Speaking of McCartney, I read somewhere that he wrote "Souvenir" with Aretha Frankin in mind. That would be superb.
