Floyd - Lucifer Sam, or See Emily Play
Solo - Late Night (instrumental version)

too hard to pick just one, he is probably my favorite guitarist and song writer as well.

Can't pick one. What an incredible talent he was.
Where's my Syd's Pink Floyd Immersion Box Set with every piece of Syd Floyd audio and video ?
The second Floyd album could have been incredible with She Was A Millionaire, Scream Your Last Scream, Reaction In G, In The Beechwoods, Vegetable Man, Jugband Blues, Apples and Oranges and the solo tracks he already had written before he and the band split.
It's about time Floyd/EMI went through the remaining multitracks from that post-Piper period and "sorted it out". Maybe one of them (Nick?) has some interesting acetates/reel to reels from that period (apart from the obvious Lucy Leave etc. acetate.).
Guys it's been 50 years...give the money to the Syd Barrett trust set up by his sister....immediately please.

solo maybe - it's no good trying or no mans land or late night ????
i'd love to hear the solo She Was A Millionaire...even without a vocal just to get a vague idea of the song. It was announced as the follow-up to Emily backed by Scream Your Last Scream.

In Floyd, "Jugband Blues". Solo, then either "Dark Globe" or the Bowie-esque "Baby Lemonade".

I still reckon that The Madcap Laughs is one of the most terrifying records I've ever heard.

So many great ones. I really love "No Good Trying". On an album that sounds unfinished, only this and Octopus seem to be fully formed songs reaching their potential (not that the other tracks aren't great---they are; just more demo like).

Opel, Waving my arms in the air, Baby Lemonade, Long Gone, Love Song.

Although it's actually a Pink Floyd song, Interstellar Overdrive.

    Brilliant stuff.

I confess to never actually giving his solo work a look. :hide:

I've got 2 great Syd Barrett discs. One is Rhamadam (Syd Barrett and the dawn of Pink Floyd). It has alternate takes of his solo stuff, early Floyd shows (UFO club), Syd interview and early Floyd stuff. The second is Magnesium Proverbs (title taken from one of my favorite Syd songs Wolfpack). This one has tons of alternate takes.

As far as Syd solo stuff... It's tough.. so many great songs... I love "Octopus," "Terrapin," and yes that "Bob Dylan Blues" song that was uncovered in like 01' I think? That's the best Dylan tribute song ever!
