Well here's an odd one-- My Coda companion disks have 2 side 3 and side 4, but no side 1 or 2. Whoopsie. Not sure how to fix this.

It started with a sloppy editing job when the song was first transferred to digital in 1990. Since then, every digital version has faded a bit earlier than what can be found on the original 1970 45.

The 2015 remaster is the worst offender, however. It cuts off the entire "fanfare" section at the end.

It may seem minor to some, but that is a charming few strums. Very disappointing that such an edit took place.

didn't those "charming few strums" still occur during a fade on the previous digital release

Listening to Coda on Spotify now. Anyone else hearing some dropouts on the original mix of "Ozone Baby"?

  7. Royal Orleans (reference mix) - not Robert Plant.

    I'll take a guess it's Bonham, heh.

Jimmy himself is quoted in the recent TBL interview that it is Robert, but yea, after a couple listens it's clearly Bonham IMO.

My only comparison is a 'Strawberry' vinyl pressing, but the new digital version definitely sounds softer than I was expecting. The vinyl copy - which I've had since about 1980 - is really in your face by comparison. The new CD seems more laid back and open somehow. I'll be getting the new vinyl as well, since it's my favorite Led Zep (minority opinion alert!), but on equivalent masterings, my system is generally pretty neutral to formats.

Yes. Today is the Day. Maybe the last new journey into the World of the Transcendent Kings.

    Long Live Led Zeppelin.

Listening to Coda companion discs on Spotify. This question has probably been answered somewhere in the thread but when were the Bombay Orchestra versions of Four Sticks and Friends recorded?

Don't know about "Ozone Baby", but the booklet says, that two "short drop outs" in "If it keeps on raining"(Levee breaks) exist on the source material and ain't "flaws in the mastering".

No dammit. I was really looking forward to hearing the long version properly mixed. With Jimmy's beautiful guitar solo.
The version we get instead sounds exactly like the "All My Love" from the original album played on a really bad stereo system.
"Fool In The Rain" and "I'm Gonna Crawl" sound the same way. Can't tell any difference between the rough mixes and final album versions.

Oddly the extended "All Of My Love" found on bootlegs sounds a lot better than the rough mix.

Just heard "St. Tristan's Sword" for the first time. One word review: Wow!!! 5 minutes, 42 seconds of pure Zeppelin gold.
That and "Pod" are simply amazing.

    Argh!

I was going to pass on Presence, but "Pod" really is beautiful and "Royal Orleans (Reference)" is hilariously horrible.

    No, what are those?

Newbury Comics has given out a free litho for any purchase of the previous remasters, but I didnt see any hype in this weeks newsletter.

Pretty spooky how much the young fella (Presence photo shoot outtake of Chinese kids) on page 7 of the SD book looks like the young teenage Dark Lord himself. Background, far right...a loner, gazing intently at an unknown object (obelisk?) in his hands.
