Dio was not a "hair band".

Ones I still enjoy listening to not counting Van Halen, Guns N Roses, or Tesla because the list would change considerably:

Whitesnake - Still of the Night
    Skid Row - Wasted Time
Mötley Crüe - On With The Show
    Faster Pussycat - Bathroom Wall
    LA Guns - Crystal Eyes

That never occurred to me in all these years, but there is definitely a similarity there. Funny.

GNR wasn't a hair band at all (yes, I know about the early looks).

Great song, worth buying "invasion of your privacy" for alone.

I agree, and IMO Def Leppard wasn't either, but when I posted the topic I wanted to not define the term so as to cast as wide a net as possible.

    Enuff Z'Nuff: Fly High Michelle
    Warrant: Down Boys

    and 5 more:

Steelheart: I'll Never Let You Go
    Winger: Headed For A Heartbreak
    Bon Jovi: Bad Medicine
    Europe: Superstitious
    Vixen: Cryin'

Edit: If Queensryche are a hair band, then "Silent Lucidity" should be in my top 5... but I don't really think they are.

I'm amazed no one has mentioned Twisted Sister yet. We're not gonna take it is a classic of the genre.

If Bon Jovi counts as hair metal, definitely "Livin' on a Prayer" (although I'll never understand why they were bothering to pray if it didn't make a difference if they made it or not). "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake is another favorite. I'm not sure if I could come up with three more, but I'm surprised at the fond memories some of the other songs already mentioned have inspired.

I used to think bands that posed like this --with their glares and stares--were just trying to look "tough." I now realize that they are simply pissed off from having their hair "worked" on for three hours. And which one is Gino Vannelli? The guy in the middle--or the guy on the right?

Fun topic! Tough to narrow it down to five, so my list would be different if you asked me next week. But some of my all time favorites:

    1. I Remember You - Skid Row (my all-time favorite song)
    2. Kickstart My Heart - Motley Crue
    3. Talk Dirty to Me - Poison
    4. Wait - White Lion
    5. What It Takes - Aerosmith

Leaves out a lot of good stuff.

About 12 years or so back, a friend and I went to a Sebastian Bach show. We were both other thirty, and we laughed at ourselves after singing along with "Youth Gone Wild" at the top of our lungs.

    It was awesome. :bdance:

Incidentally, I developed quite a bit of respect for him after he was a regular guest on Gilmore Girls, essentially playing himself as a washed up rock star. I thought it showed a great sense of humor about himself, which was quite a surprise considering what a genuine bad boy he was back in the day.

That's a really interesting choice. First, I'm not even sure Hair Bands existed when that song came out, IIRC sometime in 1983. And the song always struck me as a strange combination of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Really good song.
