Well I never once heard "Mull Of Kintyre" on the radio back in 77 and to this day have still never heard it on the radio other than on a Beatles or Paul McCartney special.

Girls School, on the other hand, got quite a bit of airplay at the time. I was surprised it only reached #33. It was probably top 20 at least on our local station.

If B-sides are included here & they should be,how can Oh Woman Oh Why be avoided ? Shouldn't limit ourselves yearwise. Guilty pleasure indeed but the so called DISCO Wings single, I will say it "Goodnight Tonight," sounds more latin funk then Disco,a bit Santana-ish. It also has great guitar work from Laurence Juber, especially the Spanish acoustic bridge part. Then in 79 came this smoking rocker from Back to the Egg, Great B-side,Spin It On as well. Got that 45 the day it came out in the Summer of 79

I can't believe "Oh Woman Oh Why" isn't on the list.
It is my choice. The 45 of it has some of the most earth shaking bass I have ever heard. Great groove.

Normally I'd say that five votes in a poll of this nature is plenty. Then I saw the list. OK, McCartney has produced his share of dreck (understandable over a 50-odd year career), but man what a strong list that is. Junior's Farm is my #1 by far. Take me down, Jimmy...

I also went with Uncle Albert, My Love (for two reasons: 1) it's essentially a jazz ballad based on chord structure; and 2) Henry McCullough's solo is perfect and it wasn't what Paul asked for but he couldn't really say anything about it because it's again, perfect), Live and Let Die, and Mull of Kintyre. I can't believe that I couldn't get Maybe I'm Amazed, Band on the Run, Helen Wheels, Jet, or Listen to What the Man Said on my list.

OK, we need a tenner here.

I voted for "C Moon," "My Love," "Band on the Run," "Venus and Mars/Rock Show," and "Let 'Em In," with my 6th choice being "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey." Had "Maybe I'm Amazed" been the studio version, I would have voted for that. I've never understood why it wasn't released as a single in 1970. I'm glad "Mary Had a Little Lamb" has received the least amount of votes so far.

"My Love" is No. 6 and I almost voted for it (not "Silly Love Songs"). "Jet" was also a contender.

When I was a kid, I new of Paul McCartney via Uncle Albert before I new about the Beatles. I remember being so disapointed to find they had broken up because they hated each other (this was the early 70's). Anyway, the man knows how to write a song. My fav is Listen To What The Man Said. Its just so propulsive. And better still it always puts me in a good mood.

It's not an especially fabulous collection of songs, if I'm honest. A large chunk of that list isn't on my Macca playlist.

I agree - I'd say the same about Lennon in the 1970's - often the singles were the worst choices from the albums. That's why it took me so long to investigate their solo albums but there are many tracks to discover that are far superior.
