My favorite XX century actress turns 100 today. From Casablanca, Gas Light and Arc of Triumph to Cactus Flower and Autumn Sonata, from Joan of Arc to Anastasia Romanova, from Hitchcock to Rosselini she was the one and only INGRID. Lycklig Födelsedag, Ingrid!

She WOULD have been 100 had she not died in 1982.

King Henry V of England would be 628 today, had he lived.

Didn't a man commit suicide because she didn't return his feelings?

One of my eternal favorite songs. Ingrid to me can't compare to a beauty like grace kelly or Audrey Hepburn. But there's a magnetic spark in her in Casablanca, notorious that you can't help be drawn to. I DVr'd a few of the Rossellini films that were on TCM last night, looking fwd to finally seeing them

Today is also the anniversary of her death, as she died on her birthday.

Folks, thanx for having such great fun at my poor english. Of course I'm aware that she passed away in 1982. Still hope this is not what this tread is about.

I think it's the concept that we are asked to celebrate the birthdays of dead people as if they were still alive that rankles with some. I don't recall this being a thing when I was younger, but it seems to have become more common in the last ten years. Personally, I blame those banners on Google: Happy 250th Birthday Beethoven, etc. We should continue to celebrate the lives of the worthy, by all means, but I don't believe one can continue having birthdays, least not happy ones, when one is dead.

All that aside, I very much like Ingrid Bergman, so thank you for the spirit of this thread. I watched Stromboli just last week, blissfully unaware of any impending anniversary.

She is immortal. For 100 years the world has been a better place because of her.

What would Ingrid be doing if she were alive today? Clawing frantically at the lid of her coffin is my guess.

It's bad enough how eager people seem to be to jump on somebody for the slightest mistake in grammar and now somebody has to chime in whether or not it's appropriate for dead celebrities to have "birthdays". Oh, let's not forget the unnecessary comment about her nose as well as the jokes, including the tired one about Miss Bergman in her coffin. My God. The OP admires Ingrid Bergman and wanted to share the fact that it's the 100th anniversary of her birth.
Sometimes the insensitvity of people really disturbs me.
