I owned the Anthology (laserdisc! ) , now I hear there's the TV broadcast and a director's cut. Both different and also different more or less from the official release.

Is it worth getting either? TV & director's cut that is.

Considering the Anthology I think "It's all too much". It was a nice project but somehow offering such a flood of information - not to forget the book ! So in the end I asked myself, do I really need to know each detail of their life? I somehow got the feeling I know more about their life than about my own.
So when I had the chance of seeing the "director's cut" years ago I had no interest. To just watch it all again - only to find out what may be different or get even more information - felt more like a threat after seeing the tv version and then the VHS version and once again the DVD version with the remixes.....

What if The Beatles never existed?
Would Paul have been doing the Butlin's circuit in the 60's?

Someone else would have taken their place. It's what you can see in every school class. Someone plays the role of the class clown. And the moment he moves away someone else takes over the position. The world and the youth in the 60s was hungry for something new. And the Beatles were there at the right moment - good for us all.

  8. It's a fun way to rewatch Anthology, knowing it won't be exactly the same.

You get to see Neil Aspinall with or without the hats (I can't remember which version had the hats), and the slight differences in his wording can give you clues on what he "recited" and what he said spontaneously.

The goofy (and wisely rejected) combining of the Beatles faces image, different edits on interviews, etc.

    I enjoyed the differences.

Me too, for the most part. Back when you could still find NM first or second pressings at a reasonable cost I tracked down most of the mono Parlophone originals. I still prefer a few of the originals, The Beatles and Sgt Pepper for two, but all in all the mono box is terrific.

Well, if it is then someone went to a lot of trouble to write all the listed posts on there that say they are overrated and also all the ones that say they aren't overrated.

Are there annoying phasing issues on the stereo version of "Anytime at All" or are my ears damaged?

Anything Beatles related? How about Brian Jones' late sixties girlfriend Suki Potier who didn't blew her mind out :)

I wouldn't call it a director's cut; it's more of a rough cut which, by the way, stops at the rooftop concert.

I've never been to a Beatles convention before, is it worth going? Bootlegs? Like the Anthology rough cut or TV broadcasts??!

Anybody know of good upcoming cons? I've been to a Monkees convention last year. May Pang was there and a Beatles author. I forget which one.

I need to pick up the "ANTHOLOGY" series: TV broadcast/director's cut or any variation of these...
