Simple poll - pulled some of the more (generally) popular ones out there.

The only ones I've listened to are Freddie Gibbs & LCD. No Alice in Chains, Mastodon or AC/DC?

Easily LCD Soundsystem's "The Long Goodbye", though putting a live album on that poll might be cheating a bit (especially one that is 3 hours long and offers a big part of their entire output). But if you had put "This Is Happening" on the poll instead, I would have voted for that as well.

I'm currently listening to lots of Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, and Ariana Grande, but nothing on the list. Sorry.

Thanks for making me feel like a dinosaur. I have never heard a single album on that list.

Not that I don't buy new music -- I've bought plenty in the past five years. Sara Bareilles, Jon McLaughlin, A Great Big World, Owl City, Walk Off the Earth, 2cellos, Parachute... just to name a handful.

My snap vote was for D'Angelo, but I like the PJ Harvey, National, Kendrick Lamar and Nick Cave too.

I only own maybe 3 of the above though I've heard three or five more of 'em, but the only one I particularly care for is Black Messiah, which I love. I'm not generally a fan of post 1990 hip hop or any era of indie rock generally so most of this stuff doesn't even show up on my radar.

    I only have 3 of them....in order:
    Joanna Newsom
    PJ Harvey
    The National

I could probably list 200 that I like better.

He doesn't seem to like bait and run. That's not the case here - I pulled these from the top RYM best of lists so that was the source, and I'll be poking my head in. Honestly, I didn't even expect any traction at all since it's modern music.

I chose The Money Store as that's the album that just keeps on giving for me, with Run The Jewels 2 a very close second. Some of these albums I haven't heard either, but I plan to fix that soon enough. And that's kind of the point...if you haven't heard some of these, perhaps take a listen. You might actually like a few of them.

Am I the only one that just doesn't see the big deal with Tame Impala? I mean, their music is okay, but it's just kind of mininalistic drone thing with Lennonesque vocals. Maybe a lot think this is very original music, but I don't get it. I don't hate them (him), but it does seem like people are falling all over them with praise and it just seems like average neo-psychedelia to me :: shrug ::
