    Happy Birthday, you ol' git!

    Sorry I won't be able to attend your gigs on Cyprus Avenue, Belfast, today but they were sold out ages ago. Gotta check with BBC Radio Ulster to see if I can listen online. Enjoy the day as I'm sure that millions of fans worldwide will be giving some old fave tunes of yours a loud blast today.

    Cheers!

    I've set my Sky box to record the show on BBC Radio Ulster starting at 14.45 today and BBC TV NI on Friday night.

    And the $64,000 question is:
    "how grumpy does this make Van?"

    Can you imagine the birthday party at Van's house?

    "Happy Birthday Van!"

    "@&&@ Off!"

    "Do you like the Birthday Cake?"

    "@&&@ Off Cake!"

    "Will you put this paper hat on?"

    "@&&@ Off Hat!"

    "Would you like us to sing the Happy Birthday song to you?"

    "@&&@ Off!"

    "You know, I think Bang Records owns the copyright to that song..."

    "@&&@!!! @&&@!!! @&&@!!! @&&@!!! @&&@...."

    Local public radio station here playing a 3 song set, every hour today, of Van's music. Just heard " Wonderful Remark", "Did Ye Get Healed", had to get out of the car for morning coffee,but I'll be tuned in all day. Happy birthday Van.

    You should get some deep cuts I would imagine, since it is public radio.

    Thanks for the good laugh to start my Monday!

    Yes, BBC One Northern Ireland are recording today's gigs and will broadcast TV highlights on Friday night (September 4th) at 22:35. It's a one-hour show.

    Sitting at home tuned into BBC Ulster ready for the first show. Makes up for the crappy Bank Holiday Weekend weather.

    I think the weather could turn showery in Belfast, too. I've just mown the lawn in lovely sunshine and I've finished in time to listen to the concert

    Going to see him in a few weeks at a local festival. Not quite sure what to expect, but should be interesting!

    Started with an instrumental, then Van opened singing Close a Enough for Jazz,
    Moondance, and a duet What Ever Happened to PJ Proby?
    and that's where you came in....

    Thank you. This show is phenomenal. As I mentioned in another thread, I've seen him throughout the years, and today he sounds like he is ENJOYING himself.
