I consider McCartney's interpretation of Pete's comment as a song that constitutes a sonic assault. A few that come to mind:

Seven and Seven Is - Love
    Camel in a Needle's Eye - Eno
Anarchy in the UK - Sex Pistols
White Light White Heat - Velvet Underground

Several Nirvana tracks also come to mind

Tough to top "Ace of Spades," and no one on this thread has done so yet. If the standard is "ferocious," it tops anything else posted thus far, including those songs I like a lot. Just blistering, face-melting power.

But I'd say this belongs in the conversation:

    You betcha.

And I'll just add "We Are Motorhead", "Bomber" and practically every other one of their tracks that utterly bitchslaps anything else down.

Here's WAM from their 2000 25th Anniversary show in Brixton, London. Great gig, I was there and at the aftershow party at the Hard Rock later on. The band were great, the crowd at the venue were a bit meh, but that's London audiences for you.

Lemmy's not doing so well these days, his health's toiling and Motorhead cancelled a gig three songs in in Austin last night. That's on top of another cancellation I think in Salt Lake City last week and tours cancelled in Europe (twice) in the last 12-18 months. I love them dearly but it's time up I think. Enjoy a retirement Lemmy, your legacy is rich amongst your peers. And the world's a better place with him in it.

All that said though, Motorhead, in Glasgow in full flight at their peak? Nothing else matters as their proteges once sang.

I'd be inclined to agree if you are talking about the version on the Heavy Metal soundtrack.

  18. IMO, that's not even the best version of that song! It can't hold a candle to the great Eric Burdon.
