I actually like Blackmore's Night, quite a bit.

Not that I wouldn't mind seeing Richie do all out rock albums as well.

In the meantime, BN is a nice showcase for his other considerable chops as long as one is open to folk. That said, almost every BN album has at least one interesting cover song, a few original songs and at least one rocker, so it's not all traditional folk.

I haven't heard them all, but the earlier albums sounded a bit forced to me, but I think the more recent ones are quite good.

What does "lost time or head" mean?

I like Blackmore's Night better than the Steve Morse DP.

Big fan boy of Ritchie, but beyond the debut Shadow of the Moon, I find that all the songs sound too similar to each other.

Ok, ritchie is owner of his time, i liked the first cd but after repeated and repeated. i like the medieval folk but it ends up bored. As candice i do not think that it is at the height. i saw his first tour and it was a disappointment in my opinion. coverdale suggested return mark III and ritchie told him to speak with candice. (?)
sorry for my Enghish, I hope u understand

Both. Time and head... Pity, as he's an amazing guitar player, but that mock renfest snoozefest elevator music he's been playing for nearly 20 years is dreadful. And yes, I have a couple of the albums, and saw them live (once, and that was enough!), the man played like a god, but the costumes, the ordinary backing group, the dreadful singing and the lack of any decent songs was very off-putting... All IMHO, of course! :hide:

I thank Candice for Blackmore's Night...
and helping 'the maestro' forget about hard rockin' Deep Purple. Thus, Purpendicular, Rapture of the Deep and NOW What?! Three of my favorite Purple albums.

I'm not actually into their material at all. Will Ritchie ever rock again?
Candice Night did a duet with Andi Deris on Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys: The Legacy back in 2005. Ritchie did at some stage actually ask Deris to team up with him in a band. Not sure if that was before Blackmore's Night or not. Deris declined the offer at the time.

Hmmm....I like Steve Morse DP too.

In fact, I'm kind of glad DP has not had to deal with his drama long enough to put together a nice string of consistent albums.

I prefer Blackmore masquerading as a minstrel to that tribute band masquerading as Deep Purple.....

Bu the way what DOES that thread title mean?

    Hello,

I've read many times, that even in the early 1970's, that Mr.Blackmore was "over" playing the guitar, as he'd been doing it for so long, that he was sick-to-death of the instrument...So to then get another 6-7 years of Rainbow, followed my nearly 9-more years in the reformed Mk-II line-up, was probably an achievement in itself. This means we were already pretty-lucky to receive what was given by the end of 1993...Yet alone another Rainbow offering in 1996-7...

I've heard a few CD's of Blackmore's Night, & probably the most surprising aspect, is how successful this venture has proven...

Like Jimmy Page, he's earned the right to do as he chooses, & if that means making music with his wife, I'm happy for them both, though I care little for that music.

Revel in what's been offered & take what you like from it !!! - (And bollox to the rest)...

    Cheers,

    Gregster

I saw them in 1998,i liked them quite a bit!
Ritchie was playing a MIDI Telecaster with a pick,he plays more real acoustic instruments now,i think he is getting better technically.
Of the albums i only dig the first one.
